Judd beaten to the ball for the goal
I think he will be out for the start of the season due to that
Wrong.
The bloke who scored came in from midfield. Judds man was the little fella out on the wing.
I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen from Myles so far this pre-season. He’s definitely ahead of Ling as things stand.
Wrong
Judd is Number 14
Who is in the box with the gaolscorer?
Number 14
Specsavers for you laddie

Yes, Judd tucks in and covers, nearly blocking it.
But that’s not his man.
The criticism here should be at Widdowson for letting the ball come in the box so easily - twice, as it happens - and our midfield for not tracking back.

Cant really blame Judd for the goal yesterday IMHO, he did the right thing coming inside to try and cut out the cross but Dayton lost the goalscorer and Judd could'nt get there in time to cover. tbf it was a quality volley but Hoskins who scored is a good player.
I thought Judd was OK yesterday.
Widdowson was poor in the first half take a look at the Northampton highlights recurring theme of him standing off and allowing crosses into the box.

Agree on this, watching the Unfiltered highlights it's all about how easy it is to work the ball out wide and no pressure on the cross

If that had been Ling junior we'd be upto 15 pages now

At the end of the day we lost to a team in the division above us, it's expected they would have better players and be able to open us up. Let's see what it's like against a team at our level

That’s a bit weird.
You haven’t got the points I was making when posting the link to comments on the last game ( not some random game from years back).
Lingy made a mistake for their first goal, it was noted, but didn’t go to 15 pages.
Also, their second was similar, cross from the left to an almost unmarked player. Ling wasn’t hammered for that one.
Judd had another solid game and is looking good for the coming season. Let’s hope he can continue this fine form.

Which is why I’m personally not as convinced as most people that Widdowson is ‘solid defensively’. He’s constantly giving space for crosses to come in and rarely makes a block. Watching him sometimes it looks like he’s been told to step back but that can’t be true.

On the evidence so far, Judd offers much more than Ling, in attack and defence. He is so much more involved in the game. Sure both he and Ling get caught out. It happens, even at higher levels. But overall in preseason he is ahead of Ling by some way.

Agree especially with............. ''He’s constantly giving space for crosses to come in and rarely makes a block.''
Also Widdowson offers little to nothing when going forward, strictly sideways and backward passes. When crossing the ball, rarely if ever seems to be able lift the ball over defenders in front of him. He is just a bog standard lower league rather static defensive player.

But if both are fit, seems that Ling is nearly always preferred, wonder why ?
Sorry to say this Dis , but he ain't starting in front of a fit sam ling
Like it or not ling jnr is number 1 choice.
Why do you say that Tiff?
Are you accusing the club of nepotism?
Ah thats your Gig .
I'm merely poi ting out that Ling jnr is the all round better pro .
Not my gig fella - I don’t practise it.

People also seem to forget the Judd has only turned 21 this year. He's not at the level that he'll end up at. He's still learning all the time and I suspect that as he gets older, he gets wiser when it comes to diving it. That, of course, depends on coaching and game time. But unlike most people, I still believe in him. He had a little run in the team about a season and a half ago and he was outstanding in almost every game. I don't think that was a fluke but a lot of people have forgotten it.

I know it's a while ago, but during out relegation season Judd was voted the young player (U18) of the season for the whole of league 2, so there's definitely something about him. I think it's taken a while for him to get his confidence back, but there's definitely a great player in there, we just need some good coaching to get it out of him

And game time. And not being dropped every time an inferior squad member is fit. And not being thrown under the bus by our directors.
