Just lost 6/40 against injury-ravaged Warks. Oops.

Just as well Cook and Lawrence got scores! Yorkshire going well against Somerset. Essex really must get a win in this game as this is the last game before the 20/20 begins.

Somerset 9 down! Essex win this and they are top, going into the 20/20 period.

Somerset have lost, Essex need four wickets to beat Warwickshire.

Great effort - no Ravi / no Porter / no Cook (bowler), great strength in depth in with a chance now - 4 games to go

Great result and back on top.
Harmer has been an excellent signing. I thank the quota system in SA which means he can’t get in their national side. C’mon Essex

A rip roaring start for Essex in the T20 blast, thrashed by Middlesex. I can't believe Zampa has been asked back, I thought he was garbage last year.

While Essex continue to skimp on signings for the T20 they will never win anything.
This year we got back Zampa who I agree was inaffective last season, Snater who in the games I saw last season snatched defeat from certain victory on at least two occasions with laughable death bowling and Delporte who is very much hit and miss with the emphasis on miss. Meanwhile last nights opponents Middlesex got De Villiers and Rahman two world class performers our signings are woeful and lack any real ambition.

As a Middlesex fan who was at Lords last night, it was lovely to see Bopara and co snake back to Orange County with their tails firmly between their legs after a Sir Abraham Benjamin De Villiers masterclass.
Up the Middle.

Well done on your convincing victory last night.....Look forward to seeing you in CC Division One next season............maybe.
Looking at our signings we are not prioritising 20/20 this season.

It's been raining for most of the day and there is a match against Surrey tonight. Perhaps it will be called off or Zampa catches a nasty cold.

Fair play to Essex tonight and to Cameron Delport currently dismantling Surrey. 191-3 from 13 overs in a game reduced to 15 overs.
Essex finish 15 overs on 226-4 Delport made 129 from 40 odd balls. He was certainly more hit than miss tonight.

14 sixes and 7 fours, 112 in boundaries. Some innings, who said he was rubbish?

Said he was hit and miss. He hasn't got a great record in South Africa but fair play to him tonight. He has certainly enjoyed batting on our postage stamp of a ground.
