I reckon Brian McDermott is a good outside bet. Strong connection with Jobi who was his captain at Reading when they got promotion to the Prem.

Yeah, he’s actually not a bad shout.

Brian McDermot. Interesting.

But possibly Chris Powell.

If the club can get Chris Powell, it's a no brainer. Bloke had the life drained out of him at Southend but was a season like no other. Did wonders at Charlton and if he'd have been left to it, they could have been back in the Prem by now.

I championed him post Davis. Works for the FA now I do believe.

He does, but no reason why that can't be doubled up with a club job. Maybe I'm wrong, but pretty sure it wouldn't be an issue.

Odds aren't up yet but worth looking at the good, the bad and the ugly (Phil Brown) who have been chalked up for the Southend job, a less attractive choice than Orient I would argue even though they are a division above us. I've left Larsson and Waddock off the list below.

Phil Parkinson (decent choice)
Sol Campbell (no thanks)
Gary Rowett (be surprised if he dropped to L2)
Nigel Adkins (ditto Rowett)
Kevin Nolan (methinks not)
Michael Flynn (no reason to leave Newport)
Ian Holloway (god help us)
Gareth Ainsworth (ditto Flynn)
Owen Coyle (is his middle name really Columba? remember when he was decent manager))
Phil Brown (moving swiftly on)
Steve Lovell (been around forever but no pedigree at this level)
Darrell Clarke (no reason to .......)
Steve Evans (fortunately he's not available)
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (always on these lists but no)
Darren Currie (can't imagine they would go for him)
Nigel Pearson (please don't)
Stuart McCall (wouldn't be a bad shout)
Chris Powell (remember when he was a decent manager)
We certainly would not want Nigel Pearson, what has, he ever achieved apart getting Leicester, promoted into the Championship in his 1st spell and into the Premier league in his 2nd spell.

Chris Powel is a top man I can tell you. I became friends with Clive Mendonca when he played for Charlton, and he was out injured and he said I’ll sort out a day for your son. I go round his house and we sort everything out. Charlton are playing Arsenal at the Valley and he says Chris Powell will look after your son, he did and so much more. He went out of his way and made him feel special, introducing him to everyone from both teams and proper looking after him all day. After the game we are asked to come to the players lounge and I’m talking to Spike Lee and once more Chris goes way beyond what you could ever wish or hope for. My son was treated like a king all day by a premier league and England player. He didn’t have too, he didn’t know us, but he treated us like we had known each other years.

He is one lovely man, very special and if you ever have a chance to be in his company you will know exactly what I mean.

Don’t doubt what you say Thor but frankly I would rather the club employs their next head coach on the basis of his expertise in that area rather than how nice he may be as a person. That said, I don’t think Chris Powell would necessarily be a bad choice.

Absolutely, I trust in the club to appoint the right person and for that person be allowed to build us in the right way.

My first choice ain't on the lists, but Nathan Jones looks like he could be sacked quite soon after Stoke lost to Crawley and have 0 wins from 8 this season in the Championship.

Bombed at that level, but I think the job he did at Luton very much resembles the one he has on here: firstly to stabilise results, then to make big changes in the next season and compete. Also took Luton to the top of League One before going Stoke.

Plays attacking football and won over half his 170 games as Luton manager.

"The club" in this context is Martin Ling. It would be fair to assume, as DOF, he will have the final say on who the new Head coach is.
He wasnt so spot on when he appointed Steve Davis!!!!

Don't matter how many times you state it, I don't see us going down this route.
The football is agricultural, ugly & a bit one dimensional. Does he know to play any other way?

But got it right with Justin, so a 50% success rate. There you go.
