Tottenham will have him back soon enough, if George Marsh is not getting many minutes. I don't think he will start tomorrow, but almost certain to get on at Mansfield.

I wish him all the best. Don't knock him before he gets a fair crack of the whip. Too often we are ready to get on players backs and not give them time.

He went on pre-season with their first team. I watched a bit of him when he came on against United in pre-season. Played at right back and did ok. He's obviously rated at Spurs, it will be interesting to see where he plays.

Ignoring most of the nonsense already posted.

The one thing we miss is a proper holding defensive midfielder who gets stuck in. It might be this kid has that.

We don't need a creative midfielder. We need a change of formation as our full backs cannot play wing back roles. Not having a proper defensive midfielder was preventing us from doing that.

We now have that option if this kid can stand up to men's football.

I imagine that's what we have brought him in for..though it may be too much for him (could see an over enthusiastic red card in his early games), but it may be he is the missing piece of the puzzle that unlocks JMD, Dennis to get on the wings and provide some decent service to two very promising forwards.

I'd like to see this given a go

Brill

Ling or Turley. Ekpiteta. Coulson. Widdowson

Marsh DMC

Wright MC. Clay MC. (Jobi comes in for either here)

Dennis RF. JMD or Brophy LF

Angol S

That’s a bit Champions League but I like it.

Agreed with your assessment and how the right player in this role will unlock the flair players.

Good. Gorman is a Conference South-standard no mark.

As said above, he has to play. No way will spurs tolerate him not getting game time.

Agreed - it would also ruin our "rep" with higher division clubs if we take them on only to be left as a bench warmer. I think Ross has an idea of what he wants to do with Marsh and how the team will then set up. Let's wait and see.

After recent seasons and the way we’ve treated young loanees - Abrahams, that forward from Palace, Westbrooke - you can guarantee spurs will have had assurances over how much game time he’ll get and where he’ll be played.

Can you “ guarantee” it? I sincerely hope Spurs aren’t dictating when and where Marsh might play! Might as well give them the right to pick our team then if that’s the case.

Add to that list Joe Maguire. The Liverpool youngster joined us on a one month loan back in August 2015 when Ian Hendon was manager.
I may be wrong on this, but as I recall, shortly after he joined us, he played very well in the one game her played for us in a cup game away to MK Dons that we lost, then never played again, even as a sub and after his time here, went back to Liverpool !!

That was four years ago under a very different regime. In many ways it was a different club.

I would imagine the U23 manager or whoever is looking after George will have had discussions with Ross/Lingy to ascertain how we expect to use him, whether he’ll be starting or not, where he’ll play etc. And I’m sure they’ll have someone watching him as well.

That’s pretty obvious, isn’t it?

Somewhat different tone to your original post “ guaranteeing “ we have have given Spurs assurances over how much game time Marsh will get and where he will be played I think? I can understand Spurs saying for example we don’t want him cup tied but as to the extent to which he plays and in what position - personally I think that scenario it is a non starter - those type of decisions are RE’s responsibility.

Disagree. I'm talking about a lot more than just making sure he's not cup tied.

Spurs are the ones calling the shots here (if this is kid is as good as they, and presumably we, believe him to be) so of course they would want to make sure that we will utilise him as they see fit.

Equally, it may well be that they're not fussed about him playing, just wanting him to have more time in and around men's first team football, so happy for him to sit on the bench, I don't know. But they will have a development plan for him and we will have had to buy into that plan, no question.

Yes you are correct !
Joe Maguire was on loan to use from Liverpool from 28th August 2015 till 28th September 2015. Looked up with what happened in his time at the Os and found out the following information, see below.

On 11th August 2015, we played in the league cup first round and lost away to Milton Keynes Dons by 2-1.
Then on 1st September 2015, we played in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round and lost away to Luton Town 2-1 and that game as you correctly say, is the one competitive game that Joe played for us. Apparently he played well, so well in fact that reading this old article below, he seemed to think he would be playing more games for the Os, never happened though and after his month at Leyton Orient, he went back to Liverpool.

Maguire focused on helping O's bounce back at Exeter.

New O’s loanee Joe Maguire may have tasted defeat in his first game at the Club, but he is hoping they can bounce back in style on Saturday at Exeter City. The 20-year-old made his debut at centre back in the 2-1 loss at Luton Town in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last night, and though delighted to make his first appearance for the O’s, he was frustrated they didn’t come away with the victory.
“We went into the game hoping to keep up our unbeaten run but we unfortunately couldn’t get the win,” he told leytonorient.com

Sid, do you think that George’s height will negatively impact on his performance or do we need to also recruit Snow White to help out?

Well Mr ''Disraeli'' Oh sorry, I forgot that I was not still on my history forum.....
Anyway, trying to be on the positive side, lack of height did not seem to hinder 5'3'' Bobby Collins and Billy Bremner, both small but great midfield players, who played at separate time periods for Scotland and the great Leeds Utd team of the 60s and 70s. A few more small but very good players you might recall, Archie Gemmill, Bobby Kellard, Norman Deeley and of course our own Dean ''Tiny'' Cox !! Also lack of height did not seem to hinder Diego Madonna did it !! George is a youngster who is going to be a loan player for us, so let us give him a chance before we jump to decisions. Who knows, we may be pleasantly surprised !
