Latest ONS data on net migration is interesting. It indicates that net migration into the UK hit an annual rate of 906,000 last summer. So, nearly a million more people entering the country than leaving while the Tories were in Government.
Although, I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a good or bad thing, so cannot confirm if it can be described as an absolute shambles yet. But shambles or no shambles, the Tories and Ukippers must be pleased to see that Labour are flattening the curve this year. Right?

This country under Starmer and Reeves is such a shambles even the foreigns don't want to come here anymore. Sad.

Well, according to Dohnut, the Government of the day must take responsibility for everything that happens during it’s tenure. I’m sure he’ll be the first to congratulate Keir for bringing immigration numbers down.

Presumably these are figures for legal entry and don’t include the guesstimate for illegal entry

They literally do not pay tax like the rest of us. They have their own special rules.
The have certain exceptions and allowances due to the complex industry they are in. Farming is a very difficulty industry and has one of the highest suicide rates.
Farmers pay other taxes alongside their main farming levies.
What "other taxes" do they pay ? Is there some special tax that only farmers pay that I'm unaware of?
The taxes that apply to home ownership, vehicle ownership, living in the UK. Work it out, you seem bright enough.

Taxes that apply to home ownership? What do you mean, like council tax?

Hey, guess what! Their outputs are zero rated so they don’t pay any VAT, they just reclaim it on all their purchases. They actually get paid back VAT from HMRC.

I’m surprised at that. You’d have thought it would have been more difficult to pull the trigger without opposable digits.

But apart from that, what have the Romans ever done, sorry, I mean what have the Government ever done for the farmers?

Oh I am. So you're admitting that these farmers don't pay any special tax exclusive to their industry - just the same ones as any other business (although, as HA points out above, they get more than their fair share of exemptions from those as well)
If I build a hotel business, for example, and want to hand that on to my kids, that would be subject to inheritance tax (and rightly so). The hotel business is complex, difficult, time consuming and stressful - but we pay our way. Our asset values and fixed costs are high, but if we manage to make a profit we pay tax on it. We "add the value" to food - turning zero rated raw product into 20% rated hot food, generating VAT for the exchequer. Why should farmers be treated any differently ?
Is the answer "because a bunch of the super-rich realised that there was a loophole created for them to avoid IHT so they piled in to the industry and inflated all the land values, and they don't want to give that loophole up"? Sounds like they're using useful idiots to protect their position.

Doesn't have to be a farm to access the free money and tax exemptions. I'm wondering if your agricultural prowess could squeeze into the definition of market gardening. They get preferential treatment too.
