Re: ABANDONED GAME
The certainty of some on this thread is bizarre.
If I had to bet, I’d say a full replay announced once the dust has settled around the incident and the emotion can be taken out of it is probably most likely, since it’s an outcome that wouldn’t be particularly unfair on anyone. But the other potential outcomes (fulfil the last few minutes of the game, or consider the match complete) both seem plausible

Re: ABANDONED GAME
Agree but I think that a full replay isn’t particularly fair on us considering we were about 10 mins from a win. It’s not like the game was abandoned after 35 minutes.CEB wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 3:35 pm The certainty of some on this thread is bizarre.

Don’t know the right answer btw but think we might feel a bit short changed if it’s fully replayed and we lose 2-0

If that's what happens we'd have no choice but to get on with it .Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 4:12 pmAgree but I think that a full replay isn’t particularly fair on us considering we were about 10 mins from a win. Re: ABANDONED GAME
Of course. But if we are talking about fairness, it doesn’t feel like a fair outcome for us. Perhaps, there isn’t one.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 4:19 pmIf that's what happens we'd have no choice but to get on with it .Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 4:12 pmAgree but I think that a full replay isn’t particularly fair on us considering we were about 10 mins from a win. The best way to finish it is probably to play the last ten mins but it’s the most impractical and has its own issues like the same set of players being available to play that out in a few weeks time, for example
Re: ABANDONED GAME
It only “doesn’t feel like a fair outcome” if you’re not balancing it against what would be fair on Lincoln, who would argue that completing a match at a later date would make it much more difficult to build momentum towards levelling the score, when they might have felt they had a good chance.
There’s no ideal outcome because the ideal outcome is the match being played in full without the incident.
There’s an argument for formalising some principles around abandoned games, but really, a full replay is the most fair.

Re: ABANDONED GAME
So, instead of defending a 1-0 lead for roughly a maximum of 10 minutes , we have to defend it for 90.

Well, people are calling for a full replay starting at 0-0…RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 5:40 pmSo, instead of defending a 1-0 lead for roughly a maximum of 10 minutes , we have to defend it for 90.

Re: ABANDONED GAME
No, l think Pigott scored our goal around the 12th minute. So, replay the game and allow us to score in the 12th minute. Then the game proceeds as normal and it's up to us to score again or Lincoln to try and win the game. That, to me, sounds the most fair way to deal with this situation

Re: ABANDONED GAME
I will be surprised if the EFL rules anything else other than that the game is to be replayed in full.

Re: ABANDONED GAME
That does not allow for a Cox goal after 3 minutes, so I refute this suggestion.Chicken Dhansak wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 6:44 pm No, l think Pigott scored our goal around the 12th minute. Still not fair on us though. And won’t happen.Chicken Dhansak wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 6:44 pm No, l think Pigott scored our goal around the 12th minute. Re: ABANDONED GAME
Full replay with two of their guys tied together like in a 3 legged race. It’s the obvious solution.

Not sure I know how that can be done - can you supply a diagram and instructions?

Feels unfair to penalize them even further.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 11:32 am Maybe we could replay and Lincoln have Drinan up front. He needs minutes
