Re: Exiles Thread.
I read a book by an East London ambulanceman, lent to me my by my " thoughtful" brother, whilst I was recovering in hospital after a cardiac arrest. The author said that he hated giving CPR. It was very hard work & emotionally draining. He reckons that in his whole time in the job, he never brought anyone back. The ambulanceman who worked on me, apologised to my other ( more thoughtful ) brother, for breaking my ribs. He said this is the amount of force necessary to perform proper CPR. Doing this procedure on terraced seating must be incredibly difficult. You also really need a team of people to conduct proper CPR, as it must be also physically exhausting. I notice on the BBC Ambulance programme, they always endeavour to have 2 ambulance teams on scene at a cardiac arrest. To be in close proximity while all this is going on, must be extremely distressing. Especially if friends or relatives are present ( quite likely ). This all adds to the pathos of the situation.
I hope that the EFL & the Club, take a look at their protocols for the situation and have a thorough investigation. It is not an exactly uncommon event at a football, happens a few times a season. For me, the problem is when someone is feeling unwell and over reacts to something like indigestion. First responders have to react quickly and think on their feet, this can be a problem. But last night's incident was a bit of a nightmare. I was only watching on TV but, it brought home to me how lucky I was, and most poor sods don't get so lucky.

Re: Exiles Thread.
Soon as someone starts administering CPR you can assume it's a serious situation i sit in the west and you could see that's what was happening . That would have been the time common sense should've taken over. The ref was looking to restart the game when their was a trolley on the side of the pitch.
Wellens was only only the pitch cos he thought the club would get into trouble.

Re: Exiles Thread.
A strange and really sad evening. Obviously thoughts and prayers go to the individual involved.
If I may, with respects to the footballing side, I thought we looked solid and restricted them to very little despite not having a lot of the ball second half. Sanders outstanding, covered every blade- point to prove perhaps?
I hope common sense prevails in this instance and we’re awarded the points but we must be in hardly trodden territory here

Why on Earth should we have the points? Match was abandoned, the same as bad weather or blackout (not forgetting the seriousness of last night).Jman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:27 am A strange and really sad evening. Obviously thoughts and prayers go to the individual involved.

Think there's an argument for reviewing how replays in situations like that should work. The situation the other week where the match was abandoned in the 96th minute felt ridiculous. I don't see why they can't complete the game at alternative date with the remaining minutes played out.

Re: Exiles Thread.
I meant common sense prevailing with the agreement of both clubs, which the EFL tweeted out last night was an option.
It would be very sporting of Lincoln to agree to this. Personally I would’ve thought that would be the common sense approach considering the seriousness of the situation and the fact there was only 10 minutes left to play.
Just my opinion though

There must be an ‘official’ protocol here? Perhaps Lincoln can surrender the match in respect and memory of the poor man as sportsmanship?Orient_Man_And_Boy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:34 amWhy on Earth should we have the points? Re: Exiles Thread.
Not the most important element here, of course, but there's no way Lincoln club officials aren't going to advocate for replaying / completing the match given there were still at least 10 mins to go and only a one-goal margin.

Re: Exiles Thread.
There's been a lot of warnings from footballing authorities about punishing pitch invasions this season so it's easy to understand Wellens position there. I doubt he's calling them pr*cks like the loudmouth in that video.

Re: Exiles Thread.
Seems fairly common abroad for teams to reconvene the following day, or a few days later, and play out the remainder of the game, whether in a closed stadium or not. Although appreciate sometimes this is due to crowd trouble, such as Ajax-Feyenoord the other week. They did the same in the Leigh Leopards Super League game a few months back too after a floodlight failure. I'm not sure why English football (yet again) seemingly takes a different approach.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:55 am Think there's an argument for reviewing how replays in situations like that should work. Re: Exiles Thread.
Although in reference to the Leigh rugby league game, interesting comments from the Huddersfield coach as to why he thought not replaying the game in full was unfair - suspect some of the concerns don't apply to football, can't see Lincoln being asked to come back down tomorrow night, for example.

Re: Exiles Thread.
Yes. They were putting a lot of pressure on us hunting for an equaliser. Doubt they concede and let us have the 3 points. Equally a point each wouldn't be fair on us either. 6 minutes plus maybe 10 minutes stoppage time is a lot of footballWally Banter wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:58 am Not the most important element here, of course, but there's no way Lincoln club officials aren't going to advocate for replaying / completing the match given there were still at least 10 mins to go and only a one-goal margin.

Re: Exiles Thread.
Think the game will be replayed however if it was it would be a nice gesture for Lincoln to let Piggot to walk the ball into the net at the beginning of the game? Also don’t think there should be any disciplinary action taken against any of the supporters that tried to stop the game (for the right reasons) last night.

In different circumstances, happened to a team I ran in the early 1970s. We were winning by a massive score, bad weather throughout the game, game abandoned in around the 87th minute due to torrential rain plus thunder and lightning.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 10:28 amSeems fairly common abroad for teams to reconvene the following day, or a few days later, and play out the remainder of the game, whether in a closed stadium or not. Went to the league meeting to see what the ruling was on this and it went something like this
''The rules state that the game must be played in two equally timed l halves'' .. so if that ruling made all those years ago still holds in the modern day EFL. then quite likely that the whole game will have to be replayed.

Is that why we played 3 unequal thirds in the last couple of seasons? EFL haven't got a clue & the FA arent much better.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 11:43 amIn different circumstances, happened to a team I ran in the early 1970s.
