Don't agree with those defending Smyth.
His remarks were belittling to us, and I don't believe we meant anything to him
Great player for us, but he's spoiled it now
TBF we are Little Leyton Orient.
Whenever I moved between brokers in the City, even working in the same space, I didn't feel the need to eulogise about a former employer.
Where did i say i expected him to eulogise about us?
Just not making derogatory remarks would be fine

Already injured at QPR. Maybe should’ve stayed on loan to us…

Regardless of everything else, QPR giving him a three year contract was madness

He's a decent player, but with his injury proneness he'll never be a fixture in a championship side. I wouldn't be surprised if he's available for loan in January.

If he isnt injured, of course!

What I don't really understand is QPR release Smyth because he's too injury prone yet re-sign him again with the same recent injury record . Not only that they give him a three year contract . My QPR supporting mate at work reckons QPR are in a mess . I think they must be and I wouldn't be surprised to see them end up getting relegated .

Very good forward for Os last season in division 2 but very injury prone. Time will tell if he can play a significant role for QPR over the next 3 seasons.

He couldn't before so that's why they released him in the first place .

While on holiday in Turkey wearing my O's shirt, a guy said to me we just bought your player Smyth, he said don't worry we're gonna get relegated this season you can have him back then

Time will tell but I dont bear Smyth any ill will. Its a job that only lasts for a few years and last season he played well for us, his time on the pitch was carefully managed by RW and at the end of his contract he was most likely offered a lot better deal by QPR than that offered by the Os so made sense for him to take it.

They won't wrap him in cotton wool like we did so he will be injured a lot more this season I reckon.

That’s one of Richie’s good points, he’s been there done that knows his players and there capabilities especially where injuries are concerned, think the same might be said for Dan Hap this season. Nobody can foresee an injury but you can foresee what type of player you are dealing with especially if they are injury prone like Darren Anderton, for example and Smyth. No point in signing a player that is constantly on the injury table as I think the club have done in the past. It’s obvious that Wellens has the final say on these matters

You won't hear Smyth wont be complaining, a three year contract on a good salary, what difference does it make whether he plays or not.

I can remember Ling saying, about the contract offered to Smyth " It is the best contract, we've ever offered to any player at Orient", yet he still left us

Because he could earn more, playing in a higher division, for a much bigger club with much better facilities.

Spot on. Surprising how many Orient fans are so annoyed about him going to QPR

We all understand why he left to go back to QPR but what set of supporters are happy about losing their best player ?

We’re talking about Smyth, not Vigoroux. You can be disappointed a player has left but wish him all the best and move on.

What person would not want to move to a bigger company for far more money and a longer term contract ?

Agree we’d all move on to bigger and better
things given the chance ..
But if you look at the bigger picture we only got
6 months out of Smyth on a 2 year old deal,
not our problem anymore he’s moved on
we’ve moved on ..
But once you do move on at least show a bit
of respect in saying you’ve enjoy your time and not state you’ve just been out on loan ..
