Did Coulthirst sign a new deal at Barnet, because his contract ran out this summer and last I heard the club were still waiting for him to sign it.

Shaquile Coulthirst

“The spasm in his lower back is starting to ease, however, Saturday’s game against Peterborough may come too early.

“He’s fine to return to training and could potentially be ready for the Arsenal match.”

That means nothing. Look how quickly both Bonne and Koroma left us. They say one thing one minute and gone the next.

I wonder how the "we don't need any players" brigade will react now Ross has said this...
Is anybody really saying we don't need any more players though?
In a word, yes.

Not seen anyone say we don't need new players where's the link.

There isn't one, it's because certain people & Gshaw is one of them go into mad panic mode because we haven't got a squad of 35 by mid-July
& all is doom & gloom because we haven't replaced Charlie Grainger or Alex Lawless.............yet

Why not though? The idea is to replace players BEFORE the season starts.

No it's not. It's to replace them for the season. I'd take a 7/10 player on September 1st over a 5/10 player on July 28th every time.

Anyway, both those players have been replaced.

Wright is a completely different player to Lawless.

Also, who has replaced Lee? We also know that Jobi will be used sparingly this season, so we are very short in midfield.

I agree Wright is a completely different player to Lawless - he’s much better! Lees replacement = Gorman ? Also fair to say that while we can assume McAnuff will be used sparingly this season we don’t know it! Try to be patient - players can’t be press ganged into coming to the club and whilst not ideal we have until 2nd September before the transfer window shuts. KT confirmed that there will be a couple of new arrivals in the coming days so hang on for that and then you can start criticising the players that have been brought in!😀

Firstly, comparing apples to oranges is a flawed process. Also, Gorman was acquired last year whilst Lee was on the books, so he is clearly not a ‘replacement’.

I look forward to hearing who these new arrivals are, as my source tells me they will be in by next Saturday.

Jobi McAnuff will be the 4th central midfielder.

That is about right but with injuries and loss of (or in Gorman’s case - neglible) form means we need someone else.

Jobi will be lucky to play 20 games this season.

Quite funny how Ross came out and said exactly the same reason of why we need the two players and suddenly all the dissenting voices go very quiet very quickly huh.

Poor form all round when you consider the progress that's been made under the new owners

@Disoriented
A good and reasoned summing up of the current situation.
After watching yesterdays game, the 5-3-2 formation struggled to make an impact on the wings, getting in good crosses etc. Widdowson is a happier playing a defensive role and struggles when doing the overlapping role and trying to get in good quality crosses from traditional winger areas. Ling is what he is, Judd when fitter and in form adds a lot more to the role of a right sided wing-back. Top quality sides like Liverpool have two very attacking wing-backs so can play this system well. We at present have two full backs who are not that comfortable on the ball when asked to go forward and overlap and put in good quality crosses, its horses for courses really. Play this system as we are and it will put a lot of extra work on the two central midfielders and result in a lack of decent service for the front two central strikers thus not many chances to score goals. Seems like JMD will play a roving role playing behind the front two.

To be honest, although I’m just as frustrated as anyone we haven’t added to the squad on top of what we’ve got, I think Ross’s comments are actually spot on. Getting players in the door to make up the numbers is completely the pointless. Anybody we get in has to be of a really sufficient quality to improve the squad so we’ve got to bide our time

Based on that view when they do come in we should be overjoyed at the quality they add to the squad. Nobody has ever said we need players to make up,the numbers, not that I recall anyway. That type of comment is a cop out for no activity.

My sole concern is that we never return to the tinpot crap of NL ever again.

Current name on the social media rumour mill is David Wheeler of QPR.
