It's easy to forget he's still only 22 and he'd only had a handful of sporadic appearances before this season, so after being ever present was well overdue a little rest, mentally as well as physically.
He's stepped up a level since coming back from that suspensio and shown that we've got no chance of retaining his services next season. He could go and play in Ipswich's team in either division and earn far more than we could afford to pay him. And if for some reason Ipswich don't fancy him, one of the bigger L1 or lower Championship sides will snap him up.
Enjoy watching him while you still can.

Why wouldn't he because he's arguably the first name on our team sheet . If Ipswich go up he'd probably only be a bench warmer at Portman Road
Also in our favour he's developing really well under Wellens, who by his own admission gives El Miz a tougher time as he was a CM himself and wants him to be the best player he can be.
It will 100% categorically not happen that we’ll keep him next season. It’s pointless thinking otherwise. We just need to make sure we’ve a good replacement lined up.
A very hard act to follow. There's been 5 years between the previous incumbent who impressed in the role (Adams) and El Miz. Definitely proves the value of an athletic, strong player in that CDM role.

Can someone remind me of all Drinnans glaring misses? I obviously recall the scuffed 'shot' from the penalty spot after Ruel had also scuffed his shot at him but genuinely can't remember any others?
I think Theo flashed a cross over in the first half and I think Drinan touched it and it went just wide of the post.
Think we’ll need better quality in League 1
There were loads of crosses flashed across the box in that first half bombardment but I don't recall any sitters missed by anyone?
I agree wholeheartedly that we need an upgrade in L1 as our first choice, though.

Today's goal was laughable. Your CDM is not supposed to be tiptoeing through the oppositions defence like that, turning them inside out then placing the ball confidently past their keeper.

That’s why he’s a unicorn at this level. The best defensive midfielder in the league can also carry the ball and smash it in from 20 yards. Whatever it takes to get him.

Depends if they go up and how much we offer £££
And whether Idris wants to come permanently

But a bench warmer on an extra £ 5k a week !

Yes , that’s a valid point . Idris would have to make a decision. If he signs for us and plays well again next season then the chances are a championship club would come in for him and probably pay him more than that extra 5k a week. Admittedly I might be clutching at straws here, but we at least must try to sign him

I hope Marin has already had a quiet word with Idris to see if he has any interest in staying.

As good as Idris is, its encouraging that Ipswich didn't recall in January for themselves, or to pass on to a higher division club. Obviously we can't match the Ipswich budget, but maybe out top end wage might be able to match the Ipswich bottom end, and Idris wants to stay. There's also probably an undisclosed transfer fee to consider.
