Once Koroma was up and running again, he couldn't get onto the pitch. If Alabi goes, then yes we will need another forward, but that means only one to come in. 6 strikers on the books would be overkill.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 10:44 am
We also let another striker, Jay Simpson, go. And Alabi has been transfer listed so that makes 4 going out. By my reckoning, we are still 2 short.
Same in midfield, we let Lawless and Lee go and have replaced them with just Josh Wright. We've also yet to hear if Dayton is going to resign.
You can't criticise people for pointing out that pre-season has started, our first friendly is this Saturday, and we are currently very short on numbers and, arguably, quality.
I think we may bring in another central midfielder, but a case for a Clay-Wright-Gorman-McAnuff central 4 can be made.
We need a winger, for sure and I expect we will sign one, rumoured to be Louis Dennis, in the coming days.
In one of his earliest chats, Justin said he wanted 2 players for each position all over the park plus support from kids. But then added you can never have enough strikers, so would take 5 up top.
If we had 6 strikers, you wouldn't even be able to get them all onto the pitch at in one game. It would mean using up 4 of the 6 outfield bench spots. 6 strikers would mean 3 players for these positions, would it not?gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 2:00 pmFinally someone talking a bit of senseCreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 11:13 am5 and a kid is not overkill IMO. The two keepers that arent Brill will not be on very much. Having 5 senior strikers, which would mean bringing in a total of 4 this window, would be ridiculous.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 2:44 pm What?
We'll have 2 keepers and a kid - you don't expect all 3 of them to be in the matchday squad, do you?
I'm not suggesting that we need 5 top rated 20+ a season 'senior' goalscorers in the squad. It's possible that one of the five won't be on very much. We could have some prospects in that figure - possibly a higher teams U23 cast off or a young non leaguer.Red_Army wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 2:56 pmThe two keepers that arent Brill will not be on very much. We will bring one more in, to replace Alabi should that be possible. There is no way we will sign two strikers from here.
Yup, wouldn't be so bad if Harrold could be considered to be a starter but he isn't. As one of 5 he's a good impact but as one of 4 we look light on options.
Depends who the other striker is. If he's good and a potential starter with competition for a place then MH and the 4 then look strong.
Awww thanks for the mention, I'm so pleased to know I'm on your mind constantlySmendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 8:59 pmSet up a few weeks ago. Reckon they are just trolling as they know weak minded people like gshaw hang on every word they say.
They bandwagoned those. What about these other deals that haven't come to fruition?gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 9:09 pmAwww thanks for the mention, I'm so pleased to know I'm on your mind constantlySmendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 8:59 pmSet up a few weeks ago. No doubt you were one of those saying it was rubbish that Bonne and Koroma were going. Forgot that doesn't fit with the narrative does it.
Agree. I hope Judd plays ahead of Ling unless he proves not up to it. Then and only then give Ling a chance.
Spot on. I don't often agree with dOh, but he's got it right here. Ling snr, will exert huge influence on team matters, and he'll want his boy playing, that's for sure.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 11:02 amAgree. But I suspect Ling will get the nod. I can see Ling Snr having more influence over team matters this season given the lack of experience of RE. Of course that won’t be the public face of who is running the show.
Unless he is in active discussions with another club he will go to Spain. His place, cost wise, in going to Spain ain’t huge in the great scheme of things.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 11:31 am Think it will be clear if there's any danger of Judd going depending on if he is in Spain. Cant imagine he would travel all that way, and we'd pay for him, if he was off within a few weeks.
Nonsense. Embleton wants to prove he can be a good manager so that they remove the interim tag from his title. No way is he picking a weaker team because of Ling senior - that's just massively paranoid. This isn't the Beelzebub era for god's sake.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 11:02 amAgree.
