Players fitness in general
Owing to the current advice of keeping at least 2 metres from anybody else, I'm just wondering how all the football squads
are keeping their fitness levels up. It has been mooted that there might have to be a mini pre-season just to get everybody
up to scratch again. What would be the best way to keep these athletes fit during the present, enforced shutdown?

Probably what they are doing right now, their fitness levels should keep relatively high, but certainly not match level fitness nor sharpness. I did read this morning that all players will be stood down from all training activity, how true or real that is I don’t know.

The remainder of the football season will be a summer sport, if it happens at all. If it does then the new season will be pushed back to September at the earliest. Personally I think they will end up abandoning the season and there will be all sorts of administrative chaos. Ignore the claims of Leeds and West Brom to go up, the issue of contracts expiring on 30 June is massive. Unless the season can end by then - which means fitting a season into 6 weeks - then they may as well start the infighting now.

Re: Players fitness in general
If they cancel the season it’s a possibility that football will implode. Too many legal actions will be mounted and it could end up destroying itself. It’s far too early to be making such monumental decisions and time can deliver a pathway forwards. One such way would be the resumption of the league to a conclusion whenever that might be. Starting next season with an appropriate break between the conclusion of this one and the start of next one, I could see it being feasible that all cup competitions are cancelled next season, no international breaks for friendlies only competitive games and two games a week for the whole season so as to get the calendar back on track.
Whoever, comes up with the right plan will have a headache whatever way they turn.

Our midfield should be ok as they never get within two meters of anyone.

I agree with Thor’s comment about cancelling all cup competitions and trying for 2 games a week throughout.
But TV will have a big big input into the debate as they are the paymasters

You may well be right their EN, but maybe now the time has come where money is not dictating the pathway forwards like it has been. Our game has lost touch with reality at the highest level and whilst I support a little club life needs to be fairer and the opportunity for clubs to reach the promised land without financial suicide getting there. Plus are they really worth £300k a week? I doubt it.

Yes, it certainly has come a long way since players were paid only £20 per week, maximum.

They must conclude this season.
Probably close down for 4-6 weeks and then start again. so give the players a couple of weeks or so off and them get them back in for 2-3 week pre-season.

You could say that of the Orient too. Whatever the legacy costs, we have still lost £50k a week for the past two years evidently, according to the annual accounts.Thor wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 3:59 pm You may well be right their EN, but maybe now the time has come where money is not dictating the pathway forwards like it has been. For every £2 we get in, we have spent £3.
