Orient V Aston Villa U23 - Prediction thread

Re: Orient V Aston Villa U23 - Prediction thread
Competition for places in our side is at a low.
The side that should start at Wembley is gonna be the one that played against Braintree with Brophy dropping out for Maguire Drew assuming everyone is fit, aside from Sam Ling being fast-tracked back in I can't see too many other realistic changes. The result doesn't really matter, as we've lifted the trophy that really counts, so it would be harsh to deprive any other player, as the rest of them have well and truly earned it.
Obviously playing some skilful kids seems to be the opposite of what Fylde offer, so we should just use it to give as many players as we can some minutes in case of late injuries.
I think we will struggle with their pace and go a couple of goals down, but finish the game stronger and peg them back. 2-2.

Not the first time you've mentioned Lingy starting at Wembley. There's no way that will happen, Turley is miles ahead of him.eagwgw wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 11:11 am Competition for places in our side is at a low.

I reckon the first choice team will get 45 -60 mins, hopefully together, with the second half spoiled by endless subs. Agreed with JWMD most likely coming in for Brophy in that central role.
Brill
Turley Marvin Coulson Happe Widdowson
Clay Jobi
JWMD
Bonne Koroma
Run outs for Ling, Brophy, Lee, Gorman, Harold and Simpson in the second half.

Re: Orient V Aston Villa U23 - Prediction thread
I dunno if Ling or Judd are fit or not or will be ready.
IMO Turley has just looked like a central defender playing right wing-back. Even he has looked surprised when he has got up the field and put in a cross that wasn't bad. In some of the other games he wasn't pushed forward that much and Widdowson got in the positions more.
In some games that suited us, just don't think this will be one of them. If it boils down to a 50/50 it'll go for Ling, just as it did earlier in the season when he was keeping Judd out of the side.
Also he hasn't really been around long enough. For instance, Bonne has been not been at his best for the second half of the season, but he's earned this day at Wembley and it would be quite cruel to drop him for a player that doesn't have a future here. Same goes for a lot of the others.

I hope Turley does have a future here and Justin picks the best team available.
Understand if he goes more attacking and puts Brophy out there instead but no way Ling will get the nod ahead of both of them.

I hope he does too (at right back) The only thing that worries me a little bit with Turley, is I feel, he's a red card in the offing.

Agree that it is a risk but we need at least a couple of his ilk in the squad. Another one in midfield please.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 1:25 pm I hope he does too (at right back) The only thing that worries me a little bit with Turley, is I feel, he's a red card in the offing.

Marvin is much more of a worry on that front.

Disagree, otherwise why would it be arranged in the first place? The team have had a week off and need to stretch their legs out before Wembley. Good of Dean Smith to do us that favour.

Not sure what kind of team Villa will bring, but would imagine first team players who haven't been getting a game will play for them and for us will be our Wembley line up.
