Not encouraging anybody to act the PUP but the Police will not have actual powers to enforce any new laws until Thursday. Emergency legislation has to be passed first. The police will also have to act reasonably and sensibly just like everyone out and about.
Best to self isolate as much as you can.

Re: Just Been Shopping
Huge queue in Queens Road snaking towards Waitrose. Clearly there's a shortage of Quinoa and Halloumi that needs sorting.
Meanwhile in the commercial hub that is Roding Valley, the local supermarket remains stocked to the gills with enough products (excluding fresh meat but I'm a confirmed vegetarian now) to keep us going quite easily including reasonably priced loo rolls.
Popped into a greengrocers locally at the end of last week and they were heavily stocked again - may pop along later and see if I can pick up a few bits. Closing the office today (3 phone calls all day) as work has basically fallen off a cliff - have guaranteed staff full salaries for 6 months minimum which I hope has eased their minds. Looks like obtaining government funding is hard work and won't come through for quite some time - quite frankly, I don't need to borrow needlessly.

Re: Just Been Shopping
Visited Sainsbury today, pretty quiet after the last couple of weeks, to be honest. Usual items all stripped bare - no tinned tomatoes or other veg/pulses etc, no bog roll (we don't need any for a week or so, anyway). No flour to be had anywhere, but some fresh bread so we'll make do with other people's baking for now. Also had plenty of paracetomol so I could get 2 packs, which is handy because I have to take 8 of them a day and was worrying about running short.
People seem to be calming down a bit, but I passed 2 pharmacies on my trip, and both had queues (very orderly and well spaced) out the door and along the street - are we all now getting scared about medicine/prescriptions?
Bottling 40 pints of homebrew tomorrow, and think I've enough bought booze to last until that's conditioned. 3 other kits in the utility room, but limited bottles, so I'll just have to get my timing right for the brews.

Re: Just Been Shopping
Our local little NISA (I think they are a franchise?) have had almost everything on the shelves; and at non-inflated prices. It is also easy to park at and not very busy.
Quite why 'the sheeple' want to spend hours queuing at larger supermarkets is completely beyond me. Oh no, I forgot. They need to stock up in bulk in order to survive the Apocalypse.
Support YOUR LOCAL smaller shops.......or don't whinge when they're gone!

Some supermarkets have set out new measures because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Re: Just Been Shopping
Agreed, I've given up on my usual supermarket of choice - it's just too busy to maintain any form of social distancing, and certainly yesterday still too much panic buying. Within about 5 minutes walk I've got 2 different corner shops, a petrol station, a small mini market and a small-ish Co-op - between them they'll do for milk and any other bits and bobs for the next few weeks.NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 2:33 pm Support YOUR LOCAL smaller shops.......or don't whinge when they're gone!

Re: Just Been Shopping
Believe it or not me and the better half go to Farm Foods in Pitsea occassionally and just before the moronic panic buying we went there to buy loo rolls, baked beans and Persil, which were all on offer. The loo rolls were £10 for three packs of 18 (total 54), Heinz baked beans were 12 pack for a fiver and Persil £20 for 2 large bottles. Haven't been there since but have almost run out of bbs.
