Re: House of commons
I have battered off an email to my MP to demand the self employed recieve the same treatment as employees as regards replacing income. That should give him something to do.

As, er, some self-employed have been rather keen on reporting low incomes & high expenses, O suggest they only get 80% of their declared net earnings. And those that use Tax Dodge Companies etc - so only paying dividend rates - get only 40%. A chance for the PAYE taxpayer to have a little smirk...

Apart from a few high-profile celebs, most people (including myself until a couple of years ago) were using "Tax Dodge" limited companies because that was the only basis on which clients would engage with you, not as a cunning tax ruse.
In fact, since I've gone over to regular employment I can absolutely promise you that the total amount of tax collected now is considerably less than it was before.

Re: House of commons
What you say is partially correct. I have seen companies insist that individuals set up companies to contract with to avoid their financial and legal obligations. I had a client recently who had to do this to work offshore.o-no wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 5:08 pm Apart from a few high-profile celebs, most people (including myself until a couple of years ago) were using "Tax Dodge" limited companies because that was the only basis on which clients would engage with you, not as a cunning tax ruse.

On the other hand I have seen it used as a tax dodge as well.
