Just received that email as well. Not sure what planet the club are on, don't see how you can talk about renewing for next season, when nobody knows when this season will finish, or indeed when next season will start. Seems ridiculous, to me, to send this email at this time.
No, this is anything but ridiculous!
There is absolutely no obligation to buy next years card but IF you want to help the club and its cash flow, and you can afford to, then this is one way of helping our team. They are on the same planet as the rest of us and want to see the club survive.
I will certainly purchase my card ASAP as, in the words of a certain supermarket 'every little helps'.

but they're asking us to pay a known amount for an unknown product - next season could be seriously shortened, with considerably fewer matches. Appreciate their costs are more fixed, and we do want to support the club, but I think the timing and the tone here was poor.
Yes you MIGHT be right re a shortened season but the running costs will be virtually the same. We have to presume that there will be an end to the current crisis and I for one am quite prepared to take that very very small risk that Leyton Orient, football, indeed the world might have ceased to exist come next season. I do think some clubs will go to the wall but hope we will come out stronger and fitter.

I understand why they're doing it now - I think in a couple of weeks the timing could be even worse than now as far as COVID-19 goes.
What I don't like is having a "card" for all matches. I regularly swap individual match tickets with the guys I sit with if I know I can't go, or they can't.
I wouldn't be able to do this anymore, so that's one less bum on a seat for those games.
Why not? Presume the card can be given to anyone you like for any game.

Yes, clearly - but then you and the person who has it have to organize themselves to get it back to you before you need it next. It creates an obligation on their part.
I'm not saying that's a massive hassle if it's someone you're going to see anyway, but there are people that I only ever see at matches, and then not always every game. With a set of pre-named individual tickets you can do what you like with them, whenever you want to, not just for the subsequent match.
Clearly this isn’t anything to do with an improved customer experience, and I doubt once you add together the cost of the cards, the scanners, the network and the program to pull all this together it costs less than 23 pieces of paper. It’s all about the data, the chance to understand who attends which matches, when they enter, etc etc, with the sole aim of flogging us more stuff, and perhaps cutting a few staff on the turnstiles.
Has anyone tried to renew their season ticket yet using the template attached to the e'mail?. I've completed the details and submitted them but the screen seems to just lock out and marked 'processing'. I've tried it a few times.
I will add I'm quite amazed by some of the negative comments on this thread. I quite a appreciate that this is a very difficult time to say the least for a hell of a lot of people and many, quite understandably, won't be able to pay out for this at the moment. However, after everything the owners have done for the club and for the money they have pumped in to save the club, I feel the least good supporters can do (if they are able to) is give this small bit of financial support and assistance at this awkward time. I guess, as ever, some people see this entirely differently!

I agree with the sentiment but as it stands, if you don’t buy by 30th or April, possibly due to financial uncertainty, you don’t get the discount anymore. Considering that’s the earliest games will resume as well I don’t know why that window is so short.

It makes no sense for the club to do this in the present climate. Hopefully someone sees sense and extends this to the end of July.
They’ve brought it in now in the hope of raising much needed revenue to cover the shortfall due to the closure. In light of the changing nature of what we face I’m sure the club will review the decision taken and amend and or address the expiry point once take up is analysised

I will be purchasing mine and hope for a better season next time round for a whole variety of reasons.
Oh Thor, take it you don't expect RE to be manager then as........

If that happens he can kiss goodbye to my 5 season tickets.
Said in haste. The club makes the decision and whilst I didn’t support his appointment I do support the club. So yes I will be there and I hope that in time Ross proves me wrong and I’d be happy to eat humble pie should that happen.

Well Ross must be doing a good job, we haven’t been beaten for at least 3 weeks now
