Sky Sports - pause subscription
For those with Sky Sports, you can now pause the subscription without paying a fee or being held to any notice period, due to the lack of live sport thanks to Covid-19. Payments will go back to normal "once the action resumes".
If you subscribe directly to Sky, it's basically log in and click a button. You get the Sports elements (channels and HD cost) reduced to zero.

Good stuff - cancelled on Now TV (It's month-to-month anyway, so no penalties, but this reminded me.)

May as well downgrade Netflix to SD too seeing as you won’t be getting the HD service.

Re: Sky Sports - pause subscription
i've done it be interested to see how many take it up again in the 3 months after things start getting back to normal or will people decide that they've not had it for a while and don't miss it.
Sky must be bricking it.

Used the Virgin app and they have reduced my bill by a few quid to compensate me for the next 3 months.Well worth getting in touch with them.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 8:10 am Need to have this discussion with Virgin Media since I have both Sky and BT Sports

Re: Sky Sports - pause subscription
In my experience, BT are one of the scummiest companies around. Almost all their "offers" have layers of small print which mean you get stiffed after the promotional rate finishes.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 5:23 pm BT currently refusing to reduce or suspend subscription for BT Sport customers.
As Jimbo said, I think a lot of sports subscribers are going to realise they don't miss it as much as they thought they would. The drop in income has the potential to reshape the market, especially for PL football.

I couldn’t agree more. My life is not going to change because I won’t get to see Burnley v Norwich.o-no wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 6:56 amIn my experience, BT are one of the scummiest companies around. Re: Sky Sports - pause subscription
I will be cancelling my Virgin subscription as soon as I’m out of contract. If Branson won’t pay his staff for 8 weeks and he’s worth 3 billion or so, he won’t be getting another penny out of me other than what I’m contracted to pay. Hopefully many more people will join me in leaving Virgin as a business due to his moral compass.

Branson doesn't own Virgin Media so what has this got to do with him?Thor wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 10:02 am I will be cancelling my Virgin subscription as soon as I’m out of contract. He owns 15% look it up. Plus he takes many millions, normally £12m in fees for using the branding, so it has alot to do with him.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 11:48 amBranson doesn't own Virgin Media so what has this got to do with him?Thor wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 10:02 am I will be cancelling my Virgin subscription as soon as I’m out of contract. Re: Sky Sports - pause subscription
Been trying for 3 days - morning, noon and night to pause the subscription.
When I submit the order, I get the message "Sorry but we are having technical difficulties
Unfortunately, we have not been able to proceed with your order. Please try again later"

Cant believe its not at least semi on purpose! Took me two days. Eventually did it on my phone instead of the laptop and it worked.Jeanluc wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 11:54 am Been trying for 3 days - morning, noon and night to pause the subscription.
