A day or two ago the same guy said that they expect 80% of the population, or around 50 million people to catch the virus. The fatality rate varies but at that time the government stated it to be around 0.6% which equates to around 300,000 people to die.

That's quite a change over a couple of days. I think he needs to explain that mismatch.

Just looked on Flightradar24 app and we are still allowing Iberia flights from Madrid landing at Heathrow .Host of other flights from France and Spain are still flying and landing at our airports. Easy jet, Ryanair and BA have stopped all there flights from these areas and are only picking up holiday makers from the likes of Canary Islands. Where is the sense of allowing other airlines to land hear from infected areas world wide. We are an island and if we had tightened our restrictions and flights from infected areas earlier we may not be in the position we are expected to be in the days or weeks to come

I have a Ryanair flight to Madrid on Saturday, which as far as i know, isn't cancelled. Ludicrous.

Does that mean if you don’t want to go you cannot claim for a refund. Typical Ryanair. With their attitude towards passengers it’s a wonder anybody travels with them. I suppose it’s because they are cheaper than other airlines. The government is now saying people should avoid travelling abroad for the next 30days. Therefore you have an excuse not to travel and get a refund.

exactly. They are scum. gonna wait until later in the week to see if they actually cancel it and then have to call otherwise i don't get anything back. Might fly their out of spite and sit in quarantine in Spain for 2 weeks.

I know someone who is English and lives in Taiwan and he is loving how they've dealt with it. Apparently it stems from the fact that they are nervous and questioning of anything China does or says so was on this in an instant. They also remember SARS and have protocols in place already. It helps that they are an island too...

Keep safe you all. UK needs to test, test and test again but I'm afraid now with a lack of testing, your going to see the death rate rise. USA is now on trajectory way worse than Italy who have been overrun, God bless them.
