Private Health Takeover

Post by Thor »

It would appear we as a country are about to enter a period of unchartered (at least within our lifetime) times where our NHS resources are going to be stretched to the max and probably beyond.

Is it therefore in the nation interest that the government creates emergency powers whereby it takes control of all private health facilities whilst this virus in a threat to our people?

That would give us access to more beds, more equipment, theatres, doctors and nurses. Then anyone could be sent there so as to spread the load and help to ease the burden.

Realistic or just a well intended idea?

Well intended idea. The government have already started requisitioning private beds evidently.

Well given that this has been covered in the media for the last couple of days, and been demanded by very Senior Doctors, then I'd think it's a good idea and should happen. I think we ought to requisition the facilities of the private sector for next to nothing though (as on a wartime/emergency footing) rather than pay them the huge wedge of money that's been mooted. They've ligged off the NHS for donkey's years so it's about time they paid back for all the highly trained Pro's they've enticed away from the NHS.

I’m sure we will be able to pay a suitable daily bed rate to make this happen.

More slow news announced 2 days ago They’ve already acquired private hospital beds and also a holiday inn at Heathrow it would seem there is a shortage of ventilators at the moment

Wont happen in this country. Too many tory backers will have reserved their own beds already.

They don't have to entice them away, the government have already done a good job driving them away with this pension contribution ceiling that the chancellor is now trying to adjust. The effect of the ceiling had the effect of driving the longer serving doctors out of the public sector.

Apparently, it's only going to cost £2.4 Million per day:

https://www.politicshome.com/news/uk/po ... isgraceful

That's going to be the cost of 'Private' bed-renting'.

No doubt this spineless tory government won't have the balls to take temporary control of these private hospitals, for the greater good of UK Society. Probably too many party doners would be highly dissatisfied.

What an utter disgrace!

During WWII The government was so concerned about looting it brought in the death penalty and life sentences as a deterrent.

Just saying, like.
