Can't get hand sanitiser? put a teaspoon of vodka into your dispenser with the soup, that will kill the little buggers.

As the UK and most other “Western” countries start to shut down normal operations and gatherings, I think we’ll find out exactly how true that famed stiff British upper lip and “keep calm & carry on” meme we’re so fond of blathering on about are.

From the country where 999 got called because KFC ran out of chicken I’m expecting mass panic stockpiling and social paranoia to kick in this weekend, before the hysteria peaks and people start to adjust to the new normality for a month or two. Businesses in the leisure sector are going to really suffer, mind, as we all scale back social interactions to unavoidable public contact only.

Stay safe, everyone. Look after the most vulnerable oldies etc around you, and I hope for those that catch the bug it’s just a mild inconvenient illness rather than life threatening.

Pretty spot on mate people just need to take the necessary proportionate responses.

I can't believe 'this place' where people ring KFC because chicken has run out. Out of interest, where are all these people walking around with stiff upper lips? I never seem to see any. Didn't they all disappear after the British Empire..

Not if the readership figures of The Daily Mail are anything to go by.

It hasn't taken long. Some small kids are playing football and being noisy outside my house, woke me from my nap. You can beet your boots that a couple of teachers have sneezed and they have sent the little darlings home. I thought this was not what Boris wanted.

Indeed, the NHS is going to struggle as it is. They have always known that it would not be able to cope with the same sort of rise in cases seen in other countries and have been using measures to try to spin it out. The worry for the over seventies is that when facilities reach saturation point they are going to be written off.

When the Ebola outbreak occured President Obama set up a Contagion Control task force with their own offices in the White House and a group of scientists on a secure network. This would have allowed the President to receive advice about the news of a new outbreak within minutes and a plan to be formed within hours.

Unfortunately for the American people President Trump sacked them all in 2018.
