With 10 games to go
Does anyone else feel like this season has officially fizzled out.
Relegation almost certainly averted.
No chance of play-offs.
There’s not a lot for the Os to play for.
There’s also the chance that coronavirus will force remaining games to be behind closed doors.
Personally I’m ready to draw a line under this season, mark it down as a consolidation season and be grateful that we’ll be playing in the football league next season.
The tragedy of Justin’s passing in the summer meant that this season was always going to be a difficult one. You could argue that bottom half safety isn’t so bad in the grand scheme of things.
I’ll continue to go to home games (if they go ahead) but not sure if I’ll do any more away ones now. I did book tickets and accommodation for Carlisle next weekend but I reckon that won’t go ahead. Might do Swindon if everything has died down by then.
Keep safe everyone.

Re: With 10 games to go
Probably alone in this thought - but I've failed to see any attraction whatsoever this season, of being a mediocre team, within an even more mediocre division.
What exactly is so brilliant about this so-called 'professional league football'?
Is the quality, excitement and entertainment value 'better' than National League? I don't think so.
Personally, I really enjoyed our winning season. Not just because of promotion but because there were different grounds to visit, etc. There's a certain attraction of being a big fish in a small pond; rather than average nothingness.
Moreover, now that the 'honeymoon period' of our new owners is over, I hope that people aren't expecting things to improve next season. I think you'll be sadly disappointed.

I hated conference football. I felt cheated that on a lot of occasions I was paying to watch thugs kick the sh*t out of those attempting to play football.NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 10:09 am Probably alone in this thought - but I've failed to see any attraction whatsoever this season, of being a mediocre team, within an even more mediocre division.

League 2 football isn’t great a lot of the time, I’ll admit, but it’s visibly better than the conference.

Mate, hate to break it to you but Charlie Lee and Craig Clay are unlikely to be getting in the Barcelona team any time soon.Huxley wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 10:24 am

We got promoted by playing 5 at the back, keeping things as tight as possible, and going long to 2 L1/Championship standard strikers.

I refer you to my comment about league 2 football not being great.RedO wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 11:10 amMate, hate to break it to you but Charlie Lee and Craig Clay are unlikely to be getting in the Barcelona team any time soon.Huxley wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 10:24 am

My point was that I hated paying to watch thugs try to kick the sh*t out of Josh Koroma

Re: With 10 games to go
perhaps the remaining games should be decided by , paper, rock, scissors
11 players, and the winner is first team to get to 6 ( ie best of eleven )
All players to wear full kit, and substitutes are allowed
all games can be watched live on stream
No gloves allowed
Just an idea !!!!
