Alex Lawless
Good job we didn't have to struggle through the play-offs. Just noticed that Alex Lawless is a bit of a bad luck charm, having been on the losing team in 3 consecutive conference play off finals.
2010 - lost against Oxford playing for York City
2011- lost against AFC Wimbledon playing for Luton
2012- lost against York City, again playing for Luton

Seems a good guy and loyal clubman but time to move on, say goodbye and thank him for his efforts whilst playing for Leyton Orient.

Re: Alex Lawless
I think he actually played better at RB then he did in CM. I thought he done a good job at RB and would have been happy enough to see him carry on there.

Probably that’s what will happen Sid, but I think I would prefer Lawless to Ling at RBSid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 1:17 pmSeems a good guy and loyal clubman but time to move on, say goodbye and thank him for his efforts whilst playing for Leyton Orient.

Re: Alex Lawless
I think that as it is, Lawless would only be played there as a fourth option if Judd, Turley, Ling and Lawless where all 100% fit and ready to go !Cheshunto wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 2:08 pmProbably that’s what will happen Sid, but I think I would prefer Lawless to Ling at RBSid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 1:17 pmSeems a good guy and loyal clubman but time to move on, say goodbye and thank him for his efforts whilst playing for Leyton Orient.
Pity that Lawless was never given the chance to play right back till recently and when given the role, he did a reasonable job !

Facts are negative? But not a patch on Turley.

Re: Alex Lawless
He showed lots of character when he was forced to play out of position at right back but overall, it is hard to justify a contract extension for him based on his two years of mixed output.

Not sure what was mixed about it. Nowhere near good enough for League 2 at this stage of his career.Disoriented wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2019 4:40 pm He showed lots of character when he was forced to play out of position at right back but overall, it is hard to justify a contract extension for him based on his two years of mixed output.

Re: Alex Lawless
He had a few good games around the time Edinburgh came in. I think that helped him start this season first choice.
No goals, no assists, just a disastrous signing given he previously scored some great goals but never looked like doing so for us and we would have been paying him a decent wedge. Probably a victim of the formation change which also nobbled the likes of Boco/Mooney/Caprice, did not offer much defensively and didn't have enough to be direct.
He'll be lucky to stay in the NLP in my view.

Re: Alex Lawless
Just to offer an alternative view. I have been working with a guy who used to play with Alex Lawless at York and he thinks he's an excellent player. When I told him that some fans were less than complimentary about him, he couldn't believe it. He also said that he would be a better player in League rather than non League football. My own view is that he was tidy enough, but didn't impose himself on games as a centre mid.

Re: Alex Lawless
IMO a squad needs players like him who can play in a few positions and step in when there are injuries/suspensions and do the job on the day, which is what he did at full back.
