.. To give the home fans a bit more to cheer about. Like a few shots on target for a change.

To not fail to adequately replace our manager, even though we had three goes at it.

Yeah that's a fair response.
Let's hope Embleton bows out this summer (along with the backroom staff) and hopefully we can get someone proper in.

Our team does lack character. My God, Alabi got so much abuse on here. Thing is, I used to really enjoy his cameos - he really got the crowd going.
Nowadays, I find it hard to nominate my favourite player. Yes, boys and girls, it is Dullsville Kentucky for the most part.....

That says more about how poor the fitness regime and conditioning has been this season than anything tactical. Along with the management it needs a serious review over summer as someone appears to have got their strategy very wrong when you look at the levels of other sides in the league.LittleMate wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 9:36 amThat will be because its a 90 minute game and we shot our bolts.gshaw wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 6:15 pm The football has been awful to watch, all about doffing our cap to the opposition and showing them utmost respect to try and not let in a goal. Embleton shows no ambition to go out and try to dominate a game, especially at home so we end up with 90 minutes and 1 shot on target. ST sales will be interesting to see who stumps up for more of that next season.
Huxley makes a good point though, I've sat there at times this season and thought "yup, fair enough they're a good side and deserve the win... played some nice stuff" rather than "oh yet another bunch of thugs getting away with assault". NL really is a tinpot league, so glad we're out of it.
First half v Carlisle was the best football we've played at home this season. Shame the players are so unfit they couldn't keep it up for more than 45 minutesLittleMate wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:36 pm
The dullest football we played all season was under Fletcher.

I disagree. I have not seen a side this season that could go at it for 90 minutes. League 2 just isn't like that - even at the top. We over-reached and got found out because we did not take advantage.gshaw wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 10:11 pmThat says more about how poor the fitness regime and conditioning has been this season than anything tactical. Re: Dullest season ever
Forest Green for starters, they kept running at us. Swindon as well so that's two for starters. Aside from Brophy our lot are one-paced and leggy by around the hour mark.LittleMate wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 9:29 amI disagree. I have not seen a side this season that could go at it for 90 minutes. That will be because its a 90 minute game and we shot our bolts.
Compare Bonne and Koroma's fitness last season to Angol and Wilkinson this for instance. The levels just aren't there.

Brush season cant remember 02-03 , 03-04 . Painfu. Players like Marcus Ebdon, Carl Hutchings and Lee Thorpe.

Agree about the forwards - the energy is a primary reason why Johnson is getting a start ATM.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 2:03 pmForest Green for starters, they kept running at us. We might look a bit leggy but that's because, in part, we are the home side and expected to put out a bit more. Opposition sides will come and soak up a bit and hope to come on later in the game. We are not good enough - yet - to ride games out with ease.
