Dullest season ever
This surely has to be have been the most dullest mind numbing season for a very long time. Football has been dour at best, style of play dull, few goals. few shots on target. little entertainment, few wins at home. No notable games that you could call a classic. No players that get us off our seats. No exciting loanees like Mpoku. No Fa Cup success. End of season games happening in late Feb as only one team goes down and our mission (line ups ) seems to have been to simply not get relegated. Cant go up, cant go down for a long while now, Even if Alabi had scored that would have been something. Has anything remotely exciting happened this season that really stands out as i'm struggling to find one. Possibly the opening of the burger stand for me but that's about it....

Re: Dullest season ever
Yes, it’s not been great. The remit was to survive this season and not get relegated. Ok, thankfully that’s been achieved but next season we need to see some big improvements . We can’t get away with being this poor again next season

The dullest football we played all season was under Fletcher.ContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:31 pm Its been crap, and Embleford must take responsibility for the bulk of that crap

Re: Dullest season ever
It may have been dull but I’d happily replay this season again for next 10 years rather than a another season back down in the abyss.
The football may not have been great at all times but every single team we’ve played have at least attempted to play football, rather than the pub league thuggery offered up by half the clubs down in the Conference

Although last season was one of the best ever, as an experience. And this season plainly isn't.

Re: Dullest season ever
The football has been awful to watch, all about doffing our cap to the opposition and showing them utmost respect to try and not let in a goal. Embleton shows no ambition to go out and try to dominate a game, especially at home so we end up with 90 minutes and 1 shot on target. ST sales will be interesting to see who stumps up for more of that next season.
Huxley makes a good point though, I've sat there at times this season and thought "yup, fair enough they're a good side and deserve the win... played some nice stuff" rather than "oh yet another bunch of thugs getting away with assault". NL really is a tinpot league, so glad we're out of it.

First half v Carlisle was the best football we've played at home this season. Shame the players are so unfit they couldn't keep it up for more than 45 minutesLittleMate wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:36 pmThe dullest football we played all season was under Fletcher.ContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:31 pm Its been crap, and Embleford must take responsibility for the bulk of that crap

It has been as dull as dish water that's for sure. Whatever way you look at it the team has under performed, the management more so.

Thought you were talking about the premiership which is equally tedious. The team in 5th is only 15 points off being relegated.

Re: Dullest season ever
It really is. I think it was halfway through the Scunthorpe game back in November, I realised that I was not enjoying it anymore. Haven't been back since, my season ticket lies lonely on the shelf.

I guess it was always going to be tough once JE passed away. Division 2 is better than the National League but it is not champagne football by any means. I think some patience is definitely needed to see this season out.

Re: Dullest season ever
Exactly the same as me. After that Scunthorpe game, the only game out of about 350 I’ve been to in the last 10 years that I left before the end, I was on the train home and just thought why am I bothering? I’ve spent every Saturday since with my gorgeous girlfriend, in my nice new house.mildandbitter wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 7:08 pm It really is. Regardless of expectation, it’s held absolutely no entertainment factor at all.

Re: Dullest season ever
Blimey, if you thought this season was the dullest ever, you should have seen us in the 90’s.
Standing on the terrace where it pishing down watching us not string two passes together in front of less than 2000 fans.

Re: Dullest season ever
Scunthorpe at home was probably the worst in my opinion, closely followed by the Maldon game.
I think we are slowly improving and although I will renew my season ticket it will be interesting to see how many others do.
Over 3 months without a home win, Yes this season has been bad as far as home games go, the club will need to offer some decent prices to entice some fans back.

Re: Dullest season ever
1972/73? Dull?
The Os won 6/7 of their last home games including a 4-0 drubbing of Aston Villa, and then drew 1-1 with Sunderland on the Monday night before they won the FA Cup.
We escaped the bottom two in division 2 comfortably in the end. How in God’s name can you label that season dull????!

Re: Dullest season ever
1976/77 season was the dullest of all for me
4 home wins & 5 away all sesson.
A 1-6 hammerring by Fulham
The only thing enjoyable.about that season is that carlisle were relegated .
Dont forget the 80s with the.conscutive thrashings at home by the likes of Newport
& bristol rovers ( i think it was) 0-5.& 1-6
As for 2014/15 & 15/16 only HATE of Beelzebub kept us interested.

The fat bloke at the start of this clip - I saw him throw some rubbish (food wrapping, you’ll be surprised to hear) on the floor in the street outside Sutton’s ground last year.

The emergence of Ruel Sotiriou as a real prospect is the one highlight.Four four two wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 3:23 pm This surely has to be have been the most dullest mind numbing season for a very long time.
