Re: Exiles Thread - Postponement Alternative
You could have an ironing service to boost income. I hope you confine the slaughter of small animals to the verminous sort ( please don't include foxes in that category ). Having been totally retired for about 8 years and partially retired for 17 years, I am an expert in filling my time. Doggies need walking ( but not in this weather ). eBay can be time consuming and can bring in extra dosh, but can seduce into spending your dosh. A model Railway layout is good if you can eject one of your sproggs from their bedroom thus freeing it up. However after you have completed the layout, it gets a bit boring watching locos going round and around in circles endlessly- wait a minute! This could be a perfect alternative to missing the O's on a wet Saturday afternoon. All those requiring this therapy form and orderly queue outside my house.

Having just won a Gold Award for my part in building the best exhibition model railway in Britain, I agree wholeheartely with West Side Story.

Hello from Bergen.
I`d rather have the postponement than another game under poor conditions TBH.
Lots of snow over here so I will go skiing this afternoon. Cross-country, obviously.

Talented people amongst O's fans.
I did some cross country skiing once Bergen .
Very tough on the quadriceps if you've not done it before

When I did my national service, a part of my job was to teach british soldiers the basics of cross country skiing.
We did laugh a lot the first week, but to be fair they did improve very quickly.

Apart from braving the elements to get the dog out (on a shorter walk, I imagine), think I’ll just put my feet up and have a read with an occasional gander at other games scores this afternoon. Reading The Salt Path at the mo, about a couple of soppy middle aged hippies who lose their house after a stupid investment the same week the bloke gets a terminal diagnosis, and decide to tramp it round the SW Coast Path instead, living on about a fiver a day and wild camping. Madness! But it’s well written and you get to like the numpties.

As a kid going to south west county cork with nothing but beaches & countryside to explore
Its amazing how little was needed.
Jam sandwiches & boiled eggs & an odd bag of Tayto could energise you all day.
Comics & a good old Jig Saw puzzle was all that was needed on a rainy day

A thoroughly well deserved "look at me" contribution Mikero. Congratulations on your achievement.

Are Mr and Mrs Vegan O still having their weekend in the Cotswolds / Stroud? If so - have a great time and hope you find lots to do to cure the disappointment of no match.

Have an afternoon snooze and then catch-up on a bit of TV I've recorded. Really dismal weather here, making it even darker, deepest Suffolk.

Glad the game was called off so early. Hasn’t even left the house yet.
Change of plans means that I will now be visiting family in Essex and will get a League 2 fix by going to the local fixture which happens to be Colchester v Cheltenham. Been impressed with Colchester the two times I’ve seen them play Orient this season.

Re: Exiles Thread - Postponement Alternative
Shame, because the postponement is probably welcomed by FGR, as their form is abysmal of late, and they may have improved by the time the match is rescheduled.
Interesting words on Orient website too....the ref deemed the ground unplayable ( or words to that effect), as if we dont believe the ref.

This thread is STRICTLY not for football related chit chat .
Only for worthwhile pointless or useful knowledge/skills
Non Football related ramblings of days with nothing to do but indulge
in catching up on trivial enjoyment.

Re: Exiles Thread - Postponement Alternative
Well said Tuffers these IMBECILES don't get it. Think I am going to clean up my collection of tea caddy spoons.
Have been collecting them for a while and they are really cheap and often made from silver. Many are tarnished though. Having done this before my pathetic skill, if I can call it that, is to largely clean them with a clean cloth and no abrasives, the finished result is often quite spectacular. Difficult areas may require my Johnson (polishing cloth) but it does remove some of the silver so it needs to be used sparingly. Once finished I will be on to the more difficult area of forking my compost bins, a bit of proprietary composting liquid (various brands are available) helps break down the leaves but some rotten veg and water help too. It's a real rock 'n roll lifestyle here.......

Have you tried the tomato sauce trick ?
Not sure HP sauce works.
Used to as a child, put filthy old coppers ( 1p 2 ps n 'apennies) in a small pot of ketchup
for a half houror so & they cleaned up like new .
Other than the.scratches from years of circulation .
I had a very wise Uncle who was full of trivial wonders like sauces & baking powder.

Thanks Tuffers, I have tried the tom sauce approach but Heinz does nothing much for silver in my experience. Now, Adnams own brand is a different proposition but too pricey for me.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 1:19 pmA truly wonderful pursuit to fill a rainy unwasted day gawd,Omygawd wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 1:01 pm Well said Tuffers these IMBECILES don't get it. As to the filthy coppers, they often go straight to prison now. Putting them into a small pot of sauce would be a cheaper alternative though, might research that after I've forked the compost. Somewhat appropriate to do it in that order I think.
Update on the spoons....have opened a bottle of red, they'll have to take their turn.
