Wrong......... in MY DAY, they were so big, that just one of those delicious Cadbury's Chocolate Cream Eggs fully filled the boot of the 1930s Rolls Royce that my uncle owned, so heavy that we had to carry it to the house in a garden barrow !! So big yet they only cost 5 old pence ( that is around 2 pence now ) at that time, ahh those were the days !

I like to eat the kids' Easter eggs, and then place the foil wrapper carefully back in the box so it looks like the eggs are still there. It's worth it just to see the look on their little faces.

Haddock is also nice. Problem now is that whereas there was more fish in the sea in those days, the fish tended to be bigger and older and was nice and flaky, tasted so much better, now a lot of small cod, haddock etc caught. If you were short of money, Rock Salmon, also called Rock eel was cheaper, around 9 pence old money for a piece, ( fished to near extinction now ) whereas a piece of cod or haddock was around one shilling to one shilling and 3 pence old money, depending on the shop and size etc.

I was only a teenager at the time it happened and most of the newspaper talk at the time was about Christine and Mandy ! I often wondered who the man in the mask was at the parties, also seems according to the Tom Mangold account below, that Ernest Marples was also at the same time cavorting around with a prostitute !
