Re: Scotch Eggs
Wrong......... in MY DAY, they were so big, that just one of those delicious Cadbury's Chocolate Cream Eggs fully filled the boot of the 1930s Rolls Royce that my uncle owned, so heavy that we had to carry it to the house in a garden barrow !! So big yet they only cost 5 old pence ( that is around 2 pence now ) at that time, ahh those were the days !Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 1:35 pmGetting a lot smaller though. Re: Scotch Eggs
And I will tell you another thing, no shiny silver wrapping in those days, we wrapped those big chocolate eggs in the old newspapers that we had eaten our Cod and chips in from the local chippy ! Lovely big bit of Cod and a big bag of Chips only costed one shilling and three pence from the chippy back then ( That is actually true, around 6 pence in todays money ! ) and a gallon of petrol cost four shillings and six pence ( also true ! )Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 4:33 pmI sense you are eggsageratingSid Bishop wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 3:48 pmWrong......... in MY DAY, they were so big, that just one of those delicious Cadbury's Chocolate Cream Eggs fully filled the boot of the 1930s Rolls Royce that my uncle owned, so heavy that we had to carry it to the house in a garden barrow !! Re: Scotch Eggs
I like to eat the kids' Easter eggs, and then place the foil wrapper carefully back in the box so it looks like the eggs are still there. It's worth it just to see the look on their little faces.

Re: Scotch Eggs
Haddock is also nice. Problem now is that whereas there was more fish in the sea in those days, the fish tended to be bigger and older and was nice and flaky, tasted so much better, now a lot of small cod, haddock etc caught. If you were short of money, Rock Salmon, also called Rock eel was cheaper, around 9 pence old money for a piece, ( fished to near extinction now ) whereas a piece of cod or haddock was around one shilling to one shilling and 3 pence old money, depending on the shop and size etc.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 8:39 pmYep the cod were definitely bigger in those days. The scandal wasn't about Keeper. It was about the Tory politician ebo cheated on his wife but yet you call it the Keeper scandal.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 9:49 pmI made sure that mine was wrapped in the ''News of the World'' especially around the times of the Christine Keeler scandal !KC & sunshine band wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 9:13 pmthe price depended if yer fish and and chips were wrapped up in the daily mirror or the TimesSid Bishop wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 8:50 am

And yet there are still those around that day we have a free press and point blank deny being brain washed.

Re: Scotch Eggs
It was a story called many things, both at the time and throughout the many years since. Often called ''The Profumo affair'' and the 1989 film ''Scandal''Max B Gold wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 12:15 amThe scandal wasn't about Keeper. I was only a teenager at the time it happened and most of the newspaper talk at the time was about Christine and Mandy ! I often wondered who the man in the mask was at the parties, also seems according to the Tom Mangold account below, that Ernest Marples was also at the same time cavorting around with a prostitute !
BBC2 programme e.g Keeler, Profumo, Ward and Me - BBC Two. ''Tom Mangold's inside story of the scandal that rocked Britain, showing what it was really like to live with Stephen Ward as he became the scapegoat for the Profumo affair.. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000dt9j
