Keir Starmer’s Labour leadership performance so far.

Post by Sid Bishop »

Interesting news article here from the Independent newspaper part of which says.........

''It has always been clear that Long-Bailey is hopeless. It’s now unfortunately even clearer that Starmer is too. And it’s even more clear that the party members have precious little interest in the dangerously obvious truth as explained to them by Nandy.''

Just like that, Keir Starmer’s Labour leadership performance has gone from hopeful to utterly hopeless.

That's not a news article, it's an opinion piece.

So are adverts for caravans and adjustable waistline slacks. Doesn’t make them news.

Nit picking as usual. Avert your eyes and you will see that the newspaper article is titled in full ''Keir Starmer’s Labour leadership performance has gone from hopeful to utterly hopeless'' Of course that long title would be frowned upon if put on this forum so I abbreviated it. Perhaps address your disapproval instead to the writer of this, Mr Tom Peck of the Independent newpaper.

Starmer will be fine. His main challenges will be:-

He is a grown-up, clever and sensible politician - so will fail the "media clown" test - required by much of our populus
He will be called "Red Keir" from Day 1 by the Tory press
He has 4 years to rise / fall / rise / fall before there is a GE

His best bet is to do nothing whilst Brexit (still to be defined) causes much economic misery/poverty and be in the right place to pick up the pieces

Yeah but how can he have a 'labour leadership performance' if he isnt leader?

Perhaps you should address your query to Mr Tom Peck of the Independent.

And it's still not news.

As a dyed in the wool tory cap doffer, I'm not sure why you're interested in Starmer Sid. You've got the heartless f*ck the poor government you've always wanted so go rejoice with a drive in your Austin A50 with your trilby perched on your head content in the knowledge that we''re leaving Europe and all those rules you can't stand.

Bet you still can't name one though thats having an adverse affect on you?

As to being interested in that article from the Independent, well I look at all the news all over the world including politics and am able to calmly take in points of views of others. Wonder why some on here get so steamed about quoting an article about the Labour party leadership race written by Tom Peck for the Independent Newspaper, hardly that controversial was it ?

How about the EU Water Framework Directive which is impacting our country right now with flooding, which could have been eased with better management of our waterways if we were not so hamstrung with eu directives.

As an aside I like Kier.

Only thing he has going for him is the same Christian Name as Keir Hardy. How can anybody want a Labour Leader with a hyphenated surname who is not black? If she called herself Rebecca Bailey maybe? Oh dear, oh dear!!

Who, Tom Peck? I very much doubt it, as he supports Southend United!

What a vivid imagination you have !!
I surely have the right to post a comment on the subject of the ongoing selection process for the next labour party leader just the same as others who favour the Labour party have the right to place comments about anything to do with the Conservative party. In actual fact of course you are completely wrong, I am a free spirit when it comes to politics and have at times voted at separate times for all of the main 3 parties at both general and local elections. I am not beholding to any of the political dogma from any of the main parties, they all have certain ideas including the Greens, some of which I like or dislike. I do not agree with everything the Conservatives come up with and recently have not agreed with the line taken on HS2 and today's immigration policy statement for when we fully leave the EU. Thankfully however, believe it or not, I do have other interests other than placing comments on this forum and today have made 10 jars of home made Marmalade and also helped a friend by repairing his broken Panasonic digital camera by fitting a new LCD screen to it, now up and running again and so life goes on !

Corbyn is better than the candidates.

And Labour will not have a woman as leader. Twice they have had a woman as a deputy leader when a leader had to be elected and both times they overlooked them for a man.

To be honest no I have not, I heard it on a debate on radio 2, and the caller gave a whole loads of facts which related to the waterways. He also pointed out that since all the work was done in Somerset, guess what didn’t get flooded? It was a very interesting discussion to be fair.
