Chances of the game being called off tomorrow

Post by Fanny »

Nothing on the official website or social media of either club about likeliness of the game being called off tomorrow.

BBC weather site is showing “strong winds and heavy rain” for Cheltenham tomorrow with a little warning sign.

Cheltenham appears to be on the edge of what will be a massive downpour.

Have tickets for the match but haven’t booked trains.

anyone else a bit worried?

As I´am thinking about going tomorrrow, I wrote an email to the club, and received the following answer:

Hi Tobias

At the moment there is no planned pitch inspection, and we have had no rain for the last few days. There is rain forecast overnight, but our pitch does drain well.

Any further update on this would be posted on our website and social media.

If it gets to bad, the ref might abandon the game.

Why is everyone getting worried about a bit of rain and wind. People are seriously becoming wimps.

I’m not worried about rain and wind.

I’m worried about wasting a load of money on overpriced train tickets.

This ain't gonna be no shower Thorboy, this is going to be major storm. So, if you even go to the match, which I strongly doubt,
then by all means, you go.

On the train tomorrow. Last time I was on the train to Cheltenham (Gloucester in the cup ?), there was bus replacement Chelmsford to London. I left at at 07:00, GWR train was rerouted due to rain, arriving Cheltenham 13:00. On pulling into Cheltenham station discovered the game was off, crossed the platform to come home. At this point all trains out of Cheltenham were cancelled and it was bus replacement back to Swindon. Finally arrived back at Chelmsford 19:00. Not a good omen for tomorrow, it's bus replacement Chelmsford to London again, and the weather prediction looks worse. All part of the fun of being a fan.

I will be travelling the 12 miles to Cheltenham, if its called off, an excuse to go for a beer or 3 in the town centre.

BBC Radio Gloucestershire isn't saying anything about the possibility of it being called of due to weather. so fingers crossed. They are saying we will get a months rain in 24 hours.

I'm going to miss the game tomorrow as I'm flying back from Barcelona.

Fire to land in 45 mph winds. What joy.

I've just checked outside and there is a slight breeze and no rain. Last night when I looked on the bbc weather right now the wind would be 45 mph and heavy rain.

Game on I'd say.

I concur Thor. Here in Gloucester/Cheltenham there is a bit of a gale, but no rain ATM. There was very little rain overnight. I will listen to BBC Gloucestershire at 9.00 but very much anticipate no issues with the game going ahead.

Come on MrB, you have only got a couple of miles. I have two buses and a mile walk in the bloody rain.

I'll stop of in the town centre for a couple of beers before the game I think.
