Why does it matter how many points we get if we aren’t getting promoted or relegated?

You don’t get a bye in the fa cup if you reach 50 points

momentum is important though. Think of the better seasons we've had recently (2013/14 & 2018/19) - both were preceded by a strong finish to the previous one.

If the rest of the season goes like a wet fart, then we will rue this micro-run of form, as it will have lumbered us with an inadeaquate manager well into next season too.

Of course, I could be wrong, and this is the start of an incredible run which will culminate in us winning the 4th div title next May.

Agree. Form going into a new season is underrated.

But we also have to use the time wisely to access players, who if good enough, will continue our form.

First and foremost, I think we're still assessing the manager, aren't we? :?

We are. No one important is are they? He’ll be our manager for the first game of next season unless he decides to leave.

Pretty sure he wouldn't if he lost about ten of the remaining games.

I get all of that. I mentioned it in the OP.

But I’d argue the experience of another dozen games for some of these youngsters - Ruel, Hector, Juddy especially but also others - would be of more benefit.

Whilst I understand the need for trying to keep the, relatively, successful period going as long as possible, to finish as high up the table and take some momentum and confidence etc into next season, we have 13 games free to plan for next year.

We should be having full and frank talks with Cisse right now and getting him to agree to a deal in principle. If he's interested in staying, make him an offer he can't refuse, give him the captaincy and get it wrapped up now. If he doesn't want to stay, send him back.

Same with Marvin - we should be making him an offer he can't refuse. But if he won't commit, tell him thanks for his service and get him out of the side. We have Coulson and Widdowson to play out there this season, could even get Shadrach back if he's doing ok out on loan which it sounds as if he is.

Judd needs to be given the rest of this season at right back and told he has 13 games to prove himself.

Hector needs to be given as much game time as possible too. I'd like him to be included in every single squad and start as many as possible.

The likes of Dayton, Harold etc who are all going should also be used as sparingly as possible.
Correct on all fronts.
