A Happy Director of Football

Post by tuffers#1 »

Its a great time to discuss the position of the club finally moving out of the mourning period
Of The tragedy of JE.

Our DoF stood by his man , even after he wasnt sure & is proving the doubters wrong.

Those of us who understand know
Show them a Carl Fletcher & Ross will just say

Damn that Fletcher fella is a Fool
Get him out Martin i want back in .
An absolute Masterstroke by our DoF
Worth every penny of his wage .
Well done ML for standing your ground
The plan is working & Ross the Boss is satrting to re-pay the
Faith you always had in him.

Up the O's

Love the optimism, but let’s inject a bit or realism here.

Of the past 3 games:

Stevenage are basically a conference side
Mansfield were awful
Macclesfield were poor but showed a bit of fight and as a result got themselves a point.

Reckon we’ve realistically secured our survival this week. It will take a catastrophic nosedive to drop out of this division now.

Looking to next season, serious improvements need to be made to the squad for a genuine play off push. I’d argue that jury is still out on the management team (and I truly believe it’s a team rather than an individual).

Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing off the rest of the season with some stress free away trips as we continue to pull away from a relegation battle.

If we finish anywhere between 20th and 15th I’ll write it off as a decent consolidation season (especially considering what happened during the summer).

The last two home games have been beyond banal.

Yes we will stay up but the style of football on show right now is sure to drive attendances down.

For this reason I’ll never be an Embleford evangelist

Agree. Finish mid table this season and overall, due to circumstance, you’ve got to take it.

But unless the philosophy, squad, DOF, or manager dramatically change before August, I can’t justify spending 350 quid (probably more when it inevitably goes up) on the banal and dull football. Will be something like my first year without a ST in 10 years, and it hurts a bit to say it.

Hopefully I am 25stone at the start of the 2021/22 season, with season ticket in hand and full of all the humble pie in east London.

Dont worry, season ticket sales have constantly increased under Danny M & T& T .
Someone else will have yours if you dont want to invest

Probably be the season Ruel becomes loved like
Laurie C , we get a QF in the FA cup at Old Trafford & win
but lose to Liverpool in a semi final.

To top it off we go back to Wembley & win a play off final against Sol Campbells Southend .

Still you keep that £350 in your pocket fella

Of course none of that may happen
But you wont be watching so it doesnt matter

You’re probably right mate. Typical. And I hope that you’re spot on.

Ticket sales won’t go up next season though

Just an insight i didn't renew my season ticket this season after 50 years
following the club and haven't been to one game this season ..
In short we didn't get to win at Man U and unfortunately get knocked out
at Anfield, in fact we were knocked out by Maldon..
Watching the highlights on Quest i see no one has invested in my seat
unfortunately season tickets wont increase next season whilst we treat
fans to 3 home wins by mid Feb and constantly renew long term injured
players contracts..
