Re: Essex CCC
Good win, and good to get a Championship win. Still concerned about their first innings batting. Top 5 batsmen are very inconsistent. After 3 matches we've only averaged 2 bonus points a match - 6 points. In truth we got one point out of this match, 5 against Surrey and none against Hants. Been like this for a couple of seasons now. If it wasn't for our bowlers we probably wouldn't be in this Division.

Re: Essex CCC
Oh well today's another day.
But I cannot ever remember Cooky being run out, even in limited over matches - any answers to that query?

Re: Essex CCC
Apparently it's never happened before in any red ball competition that Cook's played in.

Re: Essex CCC
A few of us care about Essex, we have a little banter about cricket during the close season. If you don't like it, don't join in the thread and leave us to enjoy it in peace. I was born in Epping, do you have any objections to that?

Re: Essex CCC
The young Essex wicket keeper, Michael Pepper, is one to watch for the future. Took 5 catches yesterday against Kent. Peppers first game in the 1st Eleven this season after being rushed back after having an appendix operation at the start of the season. Pepper is standing in for 1st choice Adam Wheater who is out injured with a broken thumb which was sustained in the opening game of the season.

Re: Essex CCC
Why do you have to be from the county to care?
I live in Essex so watch Essex play despite being born 250 miles away from Chelmsford.
No requirement I am aware of that requires you to be from the county to care
Re: Essex CCC
Born in Ilford and have followed Essex since the 50's. As a travelling county had opportunity to see them many times at Ilford, Gidea Park and - historic Leyton.
Great bowling yesterday. Listened to BBC and it seemed they had Kent pegged back for most of the innings. Really concerned about about Westley though, plus Browne's and Lawrence's inconsistencies.

Michael Pepper is very highly rated at Essex, he is definitely one for the future.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 9:10 amThe young Essex wicket keeper, Michael Pepper, is one to watch for the future. Re: Essex CCC
Good point, if you love a sport, you go to watch it wherever you can and also ( as in your case ) follow the team that is near to where you live, its sport for goodness sake.

Re: Essex CCC
Pepper seems like he is a promising batsman as well. Adam Wheater is a rather unlucky player, all that time waiting for Foster to retire, now start of the season breaks his thumb and once again missing out as another player steps into the Wicket Keeping slot !! Will be interesting as to what happens this season at Essex. Peter Siddle is a good addition. Always liked him when he played for Australia, a real character, good in English bowling conditions and never gives up !!Lovejoy wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 9:33 amMichael Pepper is very highly rated at Essex, he is definitely one for the future.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 9:10 amThe young Essex wicket keeper, Michael Pepper, is one to watch for the future. Re: Essex CCC
Seem to remember Wheater playing a few times as a batsman, not a keeper. BBC suggested that Porter had one of his best bowling performances yesterday - not the number of wickets, but accuracy, pace keeping it tight. What might have been for Porter if Broad and Anderson had retired 2 years ago?

Re: Essex CCC
Again you show yourself up as a complete fool with your gob open no brain engaged comments
Essex CCC had their HQ in Leyton, the very same place that Leyton Orient are based
I come from Leyton and used to watch Essex play cricket there every year during the festival week.
From my front room window I could see the County Ground, so named because its where the county team of Essex played
Does that answer your mindless question?
