He seems to trip up over the ball a lot. His balance when receiving the ball seems all wrong.

Clay is offering lot more than Wright at the moment. Wright just doesn't impact the game.

Maybe he should stick his elbows out a bit further to help with his balance.

I do believe he has ability, and that Justin would have built the team around him. That hasn't happened now, maybe next year.

At Gillingham when he had his good season he was surrounded by harder workers like Mark Byrne and Osadebe, also Bradley Dack who was far too good for them.

The balance of the side isn't right for him at the moment. We don't have enough grafters to balance out him, JMD, Brophy. Wilkinson also is another who is more skilful than hard-working.

Increase the number of lung-busters in the team and I think he could be pretty good at this level.

Not entirely convinced that Ross has the balls to drop him.

I was one who was actually pleased to see him come back. I thought he did okay for us in L1 at a very difficult time.

However, he has been disappointing overall. I think the goals (and pens) have masked his all round play which looks weak in all areas; other than sideways or backwards passing.
He just seems such a wet flannel. I doubt when opponents are lining up before the kick-off, they line up and go, "oh no, we're up against Josh Wright today".
He just seems so lightweight and lacking real presence overall.
Perhaps it's confidence, though I doubt it.
Perhaps he would benefit from a spell out of the team.

Of the 2 whom attract the most criticism in mid-field, at the moment, I would rather retain Clay, who is at least industrious, and drop Wright.

Agreed, there's no question, Clay is easily performing better at the moment (after being dropped, it's worth noting).

For starters I don't rate Josh, him and JMD are what I call luxury players that only excel when others are doing the hard work for them.

Saying that though I would like to see if we would get more out of Josh if he were played as a full on attacking midfielder. My thinking is that he's not one for tackling or even getting himself in the face of the opposition, but he does have an eye for goal and we could do with midfield chipping in with a few goals.

There are no two ways about it, despite all the stick he encounters, Josh Wright, should be an asset at this level. The fact, in recent weeks he has been poor, in my opinion, is down to the formation and lack of tactics. I honestly thought, that once we got Cisse, it would allow Wright to play in a more attacking role, but that doesn't appear to have happened either. I do believe he has ability, as the assist for Sotiriou's goal against Newport proved. Counteract that, with Saturday's performance, when he was virtually anonymous and what he did do, was riddled with mistakes, apart of course when he was involved in the build up to our goal, all be it, just a simple sideways pass to Clay, before Clay set up Brophy with a sublime pass. As I always say, it is about opinions, but can see why he comes in for criticism, as he is one of a few, who should be contributing much more. Still Ross's tactics, if there are any, have me baffled, so I am not sure how we expect the players to react to them!

I agree totally. For me Wright is an asset to our squad if played in the correct way. Yes, there's no doubt that of late he has been anonymous. But, he has to play as an attacking midfielder! He's very capable of drifting in from nowhere, finding that bit of space, and knocking the ball home. He's done it many times before. For crying out loud why doesn't Embleton want to see in this?

I said after his assist at the Newport game, that is the sort of position we need josh to play in, the final third, linking up play, passing someone else in and scoring himself. Unfortunately he has been to my mind played out of position for most of the season and I believe if we play him into areas where he can affect the play then I’m sure the team will be better for it.

Cos just bumbling along like he has this past few games is doing no one any favours.

That’s where the head coach should be earning his money in playing the players in their best position and formulating a plan to get the best out of them. I’ll leave it with Ross to work that one out.
