Wouldn't it be great if this club were fan owned then we could just go and get whoever we please ,whenever we want. Perhaps RedO could put his bank account with Orient and we can use that.

Wouldn't need to contribute (any more than I already do).
The funds were there to bring in Adams, we just chose to spunk them on Dale Gorman instead.
The funds are there to make Cisse stay (given we're currently spunking them on Wright and Clay).

Before the season ended Orient pursued the idea of signing him but the player refused to discuss the issue until the end of the season when he quickly made his decision to go elsewhere . No good pursuing the idea he would sign for us now

The saga with Adams will remain one of our biggest mistakes in the T&T era.
Sad to think about it, but I have moved on from the disappointment.

Adams has come out and admitted he didn't want to sign for us because of 'stuff behind the scenes' and because he felt pressured into making a decision.moonwalk19 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 10:53 pmMaybe the funds were there to buy Adams. Redo do you think what has transpired since Justin sadly passed away brings home Adam's comments of "stuff behind the scenes" and vindicates what he said and was vilified for saying?

Whatever that 'stuff behind the scenes' was, if is was indeed a real issue, it didn't stop us getting promotion and as for feeling pressured to sign, a club has to give a deadline to be able to know its a dead end and then to move on to the next option. No employer can wait forever.RedO wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 9:32 amAdams has come out and admitted he didn't want to sign for us because of 'stuff behind the scenes' and because he felt pressured into making a decision.moonwalk19 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 10:53 pmMaybe the funds were there to buy Adams. Of course it’s reasonable to set a reasonable deadline. But 15th May wasn’t that.

Re: Ouss Cisse
Yes agree, Cisse and Adams would make for a very good midfield pairing. My reading of the Adams saga is that the director of football tried to push Adams into signing with us, decision deadline etc before the young man was ready to commit to any club. He was hoping that a League club would come in for him after the good form shown playing for the Os, he was a free agent, single man with no family to support so why would he be in a rush to take the first offer given to him ? I have been in the same situation myself, turned down jobs in the hope of better offers coming in, we have all done it. Orient should have given him a good offer then left it at that and let him mull over it while he checked over other offers he got. The club was too impatient to sign him, gave him a deadline ( silly thing to do ) and he did not wish to be rushed into a decision and that is about it. As the old saying goes...You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink' Meaning that you can give someone an opportunity but not force them to take it.RedO wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 11:34 amHe probably is. Re: Ouss Cisse
Completely incorrect, he did NOT sign for Eastleigh, he signed for the team that Daryl McMahon was manager of which was........Ebbsfleet United ! Yes Adams and McMahon did share agents and also Ebbsfleet United's ground was very near to where Adams lived. Adams said at the time that he wanted if possible to sign for a team in the football league and was weighing up his best options, anyone in his position would have done EXACTLY the same. For some reason we tried to push him into an early decision before he had time to fully consider his best options. Also the team he signed for had finished in the play off positions whereas Orient had struggled badly for the first half of the season, eventually finishing midway in the league.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 2:13 pmSurely Adams was just waiting for Daryl Macmahon & There shared agent to cross the ts & dot the i's so he could earn double bubble feom CASH RICH Eastleigh.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 12:53 pmYews would be a very good midfield pairing. The financial problems of Ebbsfleet were a surprise the following season as before that time, the group of Kuwaiti investors who had taken over the club in 2013 looked like a solid base to take the club forward. Hindsight is a wonderful thing !!

If you have a player not committing , are you supposed to just wait ?
Bo you say fella youve had the iffer for 3 weeks now .
If you dont want the deal say so.
An "Ultimatum" as people have called it , is to me a group with a plan . You are either on biard or you are not.
Adams obviously wasnt .
Of course he is entitled to see what might be available ,
But so is OUR Footy team

Re: Ouss Cisse
Whatever, the replacement we got in, Gorman was a strange one, signing a player still a long way from recovering from a broken ankle injury. Adams signed for Ebbsfleet on 1 June 2018 which was nowhere near the start of the new season and well before the pre season training and friendly matches had started.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 3:10 pmWe did , but as time was ticking closer to the start of a season , it makes sense to have all your swuad in okace .Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 2:53 pmBefore Ebbsfleet were even mentioned, Adams was quoted as saying that he was hoping for the chance to play for a league team for coming season and why shouldn't he. Leyton Orient: Martin Ling disappointed to miss out on Ebou Adams
By Bradley Hayden

Martin Ling has spoken of his disappointment about the news that Ebou Adams will not be returning to Leyton Orient permanently this summer.
The O’s confirmed on Friday that the midfielder, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Brisbane Road from Norwich City, would not sign permanently, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his services.
Adams was released by Norwich earlier this month and has been in talks with Orient over a permanent transfer for some time, as we have previously reported. However, no deal could be agreed for the 22-year-old, who made 20 appearances during the second half of the season with Orient, scoring once against Gateshead in the FA Trophy thanks to a superb 25-yard strike which flew into the top corner.
That effort was named as Orient’s Goal-of-the-Season at the club’s end-of-season awards night recently and Adams became something of a fan favourite during his time at Brisbane Road for his energetic performances in midfield. The news of Adams’ departure will be a blow to head coach Justin Edinburgh, who has repeatedly stated his desire to keep the midfielder at the club, and Ling spoke of his disappointment of the news when speaking to the Guardian Series at the Errol McKellar charity match on Sunday. He said: “I’m not going to stand here and tell lies and say it wasn’t disappointing because it was. Ebou did really well for us and the easy answer for us was for him to stay. “My belief is that he’s got league clubs who have made him the same sort of offer or better and he wants to play within the league. So, we have to accept that. “Of course, we’ve got other options. He did do really well for us but I have got other people that I know will do just as good a job. I thank Ebou for his time but I don’t really worry about it too much because I have to move onto the next person on my shopping list.”
Orient will now focus their attentions on other targets, with the club keen to bring in at least one midfielder and possibly two more strikers in the summer transfer window, with Matt Harrold ruled out until September through injury.
However, O’s fans may have to wait a while yet before they see any potential incomings, with Ling insisting that the club will bide their time and adopt a pragmatic approach to transfers this summer.
When asked about whether there were any imminent new signings, Ling said: “Not at this moment in time. We’re probably down to about eight centre forwards and eight centre midfielders.
“We’re working our way through that personnel. We have touched base with a few players in both of them options. We know what type we want and as I say, we have got a shopping list but it’s not a big shopping list, so we can be a little more pragmatic this year. We can make sure we get it right.
“I’m not saying we didn’t get it right in the summer, but we were doing it so quickly that we were bound to make mistakes. This year we’ve got time on our side and we will come up with the right answers.”
