'Proper' politics is now abandoned until after Brexit. Although national issues always have some influence on local elections, this time round it was almost as if the election was turned into another mini referendum on Brexit.
Decisions are not being taken on usual issues such as Bedroom Tax, NHS, Schools etc etc, but solely on Brexit.

Was trying to do the Math too but was helped on facebook by me old mate Michael Rosen who says that 1,000 Tory losses is the same thing as 100 Labour losses.

LD's don't want to get their hopes up too much as some of us still alive and with active brain cells and not brainwashed recall that they dirty, stinkin, yella, Tory ratz, were the co-deliverers of austerity aong with their blue, Tory, dirty, stinkin', rats.

Hackney, is where I started life and where my grandparents were until their deaths and again it’s a dump and just gets worse with each passing year. Newham, well the only solution there is nuclear. Need I go on?

Now compare it to where I live now, we have the best schools in London, we have the most open and green spaces, we have the best recycling rates, our streets are swept weekly, we have the lowest crime rate, employment is the highest in London. I could go on and on, but it’s all under a conservative council. The difference between Labour and Conservative is like night and day. This is national politics it’s local and I’ve found that the Torres work best for the people.

How is Walthamstow getting worse year by year ?

House prices incresing again
Population is high & generally well employed
Some great sociallising , night life is better than it ever has been for everyone & not just those who want to drink.

The high street is a mere reflection of what it once was. James St is a dump of an area now, you can’t get around anywhere as all the back roads have been blocked off in their stupid little Holland project. You can’t park anywhere as it’s permits only, hardly a way to bring people into the area. How many stabbing and shootings in the last year? Big drug problem in the area as well. There’s what 17 confirmed gangs in Walthamstow!! Really, wow.

The street where my house is has been cleaned once in a year and that was by the residents with the road closed off. Like I said above my street is cleaned every week, Road sweepers clean the roads, the grass verges are cut, it’s proper looked after which is reflected by the type of people who live here, it stays clean.

I tried to get you to think about that question on my post above but you ignored it and went off on one bleating about a drop in your property value. That can only be a good thing. The generation of unearned profit on assets is what is ruining this country.

Labour councils have different priorities for their spending because the demographics of the areas they serve are substantially different from your earthly paradise.

Drugs were around, but not like now where you get asked if you want any and they get Annoyed when you say no. The streets were safer than they are now, cleaner too. The high st was buzzing now I see a sh*t hole. I hope it recovers and I do believe it will in time. The hipsters are moving in, lots of properties are being renovated and extensions and loft conversions are being done. The major minus is jobs and companies leaving the area, that’s a major downside.
