No thanks. The wrong side of 30 and the only way we beat off the likes of Gillingham is to pay too much for his services or give him a longer deal than we should.
Kevin Lisbie joined us the wrong side of 30
Didn’t do that bad did he?
Akinde has got plenty of experience at this level
Yes, as he dropped down the divisions. Laughable comparison.
Nothing wrong with a 30 year old, who is injury free and knows where the net is.
At this level he could we'll go on for another few years.

On paper good signing but there is already Angol, Wilkinson, Harrold, Ruel, Dennis too
Dennis can't shoot even remotely accurately to save his life and plays a different role so odd to have him in there while Harrold has durability question marks and is a goner this summer.

So if Akinde joins he would be dropping down a division
Your point being?
Good signing at this level and you’d like to think would be a good foil for either Angol or Wilkinson. The question if he does sign then becomes who misses out - personally from what I’ve seen of Angol this season I think he’s one of our most gifted players, but Wilkinson has also showed consistency and flashes of brilliance. A good problem to have as a manager I suppose
Akinde is a proven goalscorer but not a workaholic up front like Bonne was. Problem is that with the way the team is set up at present, even Jimmy Greaves would have struggled to score many goals ! If you want strikers to score, they have to have the ball given to them in space in the right areas of the pitch, decent crosses with supporting players around them to play off, non of this applies to the Os at present, especially if you play the one striker up front system that Ross seems to favour at present.

Fair enough. Let's not bother getting him in until we've sorted the midfield.

It is not just the midfield that needs sorting out, it is the managers tactics and the way he sets the team up that needs adjusting.

You are assuming that they will both be here at the end of the month, I heard on Tuesday that Angol isn't happy playing up front on his own and that there has been interest in him from elsewhere. Personally I can't see us stumping up six figures for Akinde more likely to end up with an untried kid from someones under 23s.
They get upset as they feel that they are wasting their time as the team is not helping them to do what they want to do and score goals. It is frustrating to constantly having to look up in the air for the ball, or be whacked in the back by a monster centre half. Making runs that never receive a pass, zero chances created, finally the fullness of playing in a shape that stunts not only the player, but the team.
If Angol had been told before joining that he was going to play up top on his own, with midfielders that won't support him, and have long balls lumped up to him all day long, he wouldn't have signed. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants out, nor would I blame him.

Cant add anything to that, yes a ''Bullseye comment.

Spot on , what forward in their right mind would sign for us if he was not going to get the support!

Spot on, maybe even someone from an under 21s, which would be disappointing and harsh on Ruel, but that's what the Os do.
