John Akinde
Leyton Orient are hoping to sign Lincoln City striker John Akinde with Gillingham also interested in the forward.

Re: John Akinde
No thanks. The wrong side of 30 and the only way we beat off the likes of Gillingham is to pay too much for his services or give him a longer deal than we should.
Re: John Akinde
He'd be expensive at our level IMO. Maybe a fee as well.
I don't think we're lacking so badly up front... In the current formation(s) the problem is the midfield.... if we could get some proper service restored to the strikers there is goals in it for them. If we had to have a marquee signing this window I would rather it be a proper full-back so we don't have to put others out of position there. Or the hard-working central midfielder that we can build the side around.
How many players have we actually signed who are on their way up, who have played games and outgrown their current club, as opposed to on their way down, dropping a level as they can't get regular football?
Wilkinson comes to mind, Ekpiteta as well. JMD possibly, although he was out of the side at Wrexham. Maybe Jake Caprice, as he was a regular at Woking.
For a side with one of the bigger budgets I think that's surprising. If we're gonna splash the cash I'd rather go for someone like that Tshimanga guy at Boreham Wood, we know from the Ferrier thing they ain't gonna price out their players to move to a League club.

Re: John Akinde
It would be a statement of intent from
The owners, 30 years old in his prime strong proven goal scorer dropping down from a higher division. Get him in the building.

Re: John Akinde
Only be any good if we play to his strengths, which we are not at present for our current crop of forwards IMO.
Tactics, formation etc need to suit

Knowing any Orient manager he probably won't be starting full stop.

Re: John Akinde
Michael Appleton on Akinde: "No formal approaches. Over the next few days we’ll have a better idea about the interest in our players.”
In other words, its unlikely he will be signed before Saturday.

Easy life for a footballer at Orient these days and almost guaranteed a contract extension

Yes, as he dropped down the divisions. Laughable comparison.Lucky7 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 5:16 pmKevin Lisbie joined us the wrong side of 30LittleMate wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 4:54 pm No thanks.
