Unfortunately we still haven’t grasped the concept that the game lasts 90 minutes not 45.

What did their keeper do?
Entertaining finish to that, bit of quality coming into the box when JMD came on. Ruel looked really lively too. Although Wilkinson disappeared when made the target man.

It wasn’t even 45 mins. A draw may have just about been warranted.redintheface wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:48 pmUnfortunately we still haven’t grasped the concept that the game lasts 90 minutes not 45.

Surprised to hear we looked better with our best midfielder and in form young striker on the pitch

Another disappointing performance. Another draw. We did improve once Ross was left with no choice but to open us up and allow us to play our football. Ross isn't learning.

Sadly they will, even though it was instigated by the Northampton player.

And this is a big problem. We'll start with the same formation on Saturday and give Newport a head start.Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:52 pm Another disappointing performance. Another draw. They will look at the incident as a whole but then assess us as repeat offenders. Northampton will get a a lighter penalty despite clearly instigating it.

Re: Exiles and match thread vs The Cobblers
Hopefully Embleton will finally wake up and realise that 4-4-2 is the way to go. We always concede anyway so packing the midfield isn't exactly helpful.
Wilkinson and Angol (or Sotiriou) up-front and JMD and Brophy on the wings, it's not rocket science.
Also what is the Northampton player doing having a go like that? Understandable reaction from our players.

Re: Exiles and match thread vs The Cobblers
I’ve read every message in this thread and it looks like we got out of jail tonight. I’ll take that especially as most seem to say we were very poor. With the line ups people provided along with the changes made it’s quite clear even from just reading this Ross is clueless and is just trying and doing anything to get us over the line.
A point is a point and will be valuable in our quest to stay up.

Re: Exiles and match thread vs The Cobblers
First half was national league standard from Orient and Northampton were all over us - second half we played it on the floor and ran them ragged. If we play like that (second half) on Saturday we'll be okay

Attacking players = attacking football = goal(s)
Not f*cking rocket science is it?

Scared of his own shadow.Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:24 pmWe've got enough evidence to be able to say that this is a characteristic of Ross's tactical style. He's a safety first manager.

Re: Exiles and match thread vs The Cobblers
Come on, this is all basic stuff, Ross despite going on so many coaching courses just does not grasp the very basics of football tactics.Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:29 pmI've said it before and I'll say it again, 1 up top does not have to be negative and does not have to be one dimensional. The problem is that we're playing one up top as a defensive strategy not a balanced strategy. There seems to be little consideration given to how we're going to use the target up front. Where are the supporting players? where are the runners?Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:26 pm Sounds like Harrold has fared as well tonight (before being subbed) as Angol has recently. Almost like one up front restricts us massively.

Yep, of course he has no idea.
We managed a draw against an in-form side currently in the playoff places. All the hysteria is slightly misplaced.

Attendance 3774, reflects the utter sh*te that has been on offer, finally people voting with their feet.
Whilst I am grateful for a point, Embleton has once again proved he is no Manager !
Be interesting to see what the attendance is on Saturday after yet another woeful performance with tactics dictated by Embleton.

Northampton should have been out of sight by half time - they were all over us. It must have been Ross's team talk at half time that turned it around.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 10:42 pm Yep, of course he has no idea.

It doesnt explain anything other than you being a twaghead as you dont understand that midweek attendances are lower, that they fluctuate and that people would also have been put off by the weather.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 10:58 pm Attendance 3774, reflects the utter sh*te that has been on offer, finally people voting with their feet

Yeah of course, nothing to do with people refusing to watch anymore of the dire football on offer due to Embletons tactics and where we are in the table.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 11:01 pmIt doesnt explain anything other than you being a twaghead as you dont understand that midweek attendances are lower, that they fluctuate and that people would also have been put off by the weather.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 10:58 pm Attendance 3774, reflects the utter sh*te that has been on offer, finally people voting with their feet
