Re: Exiles and match thread vs The Cobblers
Not necessarily. As I said, we will have lots of possession for the remainder of the game. We don't really need a ball winner/sitter like Cisse. What we need are players that can move the ball, Clay and Wright are better at that than Cisse. Dayton is a positive move as well as he's a clever player.

Changed tactics and not allowed to sub Wright or Clay, so no choice.
Re: Exiles and match thread vs The Cobblers
Maybe Cisse was on a yellow?
The side now there now, we might have been able to field in the National League.
Will be very impressive if we can snatch a point or three from here.

Re: Exiles and match thread vs The Cobblers
You know what I mean. We're going to try to camp in their half, presumably. Dominate possession. Move the ball from side to side and try to draw them out that way. To do that you need possession players in midfield. I fully acknowledge the faults of Clay and Wright but in this scenario they are the progressive option. Between them Clay, Wright, JMD & Dayton should be able to keep the ball and create something. For that job Cisse is a very poor fit.

Ain't this the same as Saturday?
We waited until we were 1-0 until we started having a go.
Can the players be blamed for that? It seems like the buck stops with the manager.

We've got enough evidence to be able to say that this is a characteristic of Ross's tactical style. He's a safety first manager.

Sounds like Harrold has fared as well tonight (before being subbed) as Angol has recently. Almost like one up front restricts us massively.

After 79 minutes we have still only had one shot on target and losing 1-0

Re: Exiles and match thread vs The Cobblers
I've said it before and I'll say it again, 1 up top does not have to be negative and does not have to be one dimensional. The problem is that we're playing one up top as a defensive strategy not a balanced strategy. There seems to be little consideration given to how we're going to use the target up front. Where are the supporting players? where are the runners?Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:26 pm Sounds like Harrold has fared as well tonight (before being subbed) as Angol has recently. Crucial point! If you can’t get players in and around the lone man up front ( whoever it may be) it’s not likely to work.Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:29 pmI've said it before and I'll say it again, 1 up top does not have to be negative and does not have to be one dimensional. Get in! Wright with the penalty. Can we get the much needed winner?

Thank goodness for that. But about the only way we were going to score.Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:31 pm Get in! Wright with the penalty. Can we get the much needed winner?
