Just got to hope that the second half can't be worse than the first.

Hope.

Yet again not showing any great desire - as opposed to Northampton who were up and at us from the start. There's a big gulf between the teams in all departments, not least the effort and determination being shown to win the ball and close us down. Truly depressing stuff.

JMD in for Clay would help.

He can still stay on coaching but Ling must go after this debacle.
I’ve defended Ling up to recently but somebody has got to take the responsibility for this mess

A draw would be a great point from here.
Starting with the pair of them is madness. You need some creativity, an element of flair, in those forward CM roles. Instead we’ve got one that runs around like a headless chicken and another that doesn’t run. Or pass. Or tackle.

JMD should have had one of those positions if going to a 3-5-2.
This.

Completely shows up RE’s luck of decisiveness in not ditching one of these two.

Embleton accepted the job with the knowledge that there was no fall back decision.
This allows a new proven, experienced Manager in League 2 and above to choose his own number 2.

10 shots against us (3 on target) by them in the first half alone.

Down to 21st, but Carlisle have a game in hand now.

I think this could be a decisive moment for Ross. We are only 1 down (it could have been more), there is still a chance to salvage something.

I know that many people think players aren't good enough, but I refuse to believe that we are as poor as that. A good National League side could still give a good game to better opposition.

No subs as far as I can tell. Presumably Ross gave them the old 'You got us into this mess, now you get us out!" Normally you don't go that route unless you're two or three down but we're so abysmal being 1-0 down is pretty much the same thing.

How are we shaping up? We've got Marsh, Cisse, Clay and Wright on the pitch. How on earth are we playing 4-4-2?

A mess at the moment.
Need some luck or something, a deflected goal or something. Otherwise it'll be like Walsall/Port Vale, those teams closed it out way too easily against us.

We're desperately lacking in width. If teams are sitting in and won't come out then you absolutely have to stretch them across the pitch.

We kind of have.

Brophy is pushed on, Clay has been put wider right.

Harold hasn’t had a look in.

Angol is a far better target man.

Nicky Adams off, Sam Hoskins on. Don't know if that means a change of shape for Northampton. Was Adams injured?

Harold rightly subbed for Sotiriou.

Coulson off for JMD. Looks like 4-4-2. Marsh right back, Clay right wing. Brophy left back, JMD left wing. I sh*t you not.

Given that we're going to have more of the ball (because Northampton are defending a lead) I'd have taken Clay off for Sweeney. I'd put Sweeney to left back, Brophy left mid, JMD right wing ahead of Marsh. Much nice balance to that than they way we've gone.

Positive change. Let's hope Ruel can get a chance, he might be able to cause some problems.

Cisse off so back to Clay and Wright as the midfield pairing. Game over.
