Re: One Up front negative tactics
I'm not going to comment on Ross as a manager - I have every sympathy for the Hokey Cokey situation (in, out - in, out - shake it all about) he ended up in and I hate to say it but the only way Ross is a "great coach" is if he has all his teeth taken out and 32 seats put in.
Our tactics are football's version of The Emperor's New Clothes; everyone else watching the game can see our nakedness - except for Ross apparently.
What is clear is that something must be done and there are enough posts with suggestions to fill the Royal Albert Hall but whatever is done, please don't leave it to the last 6 games of the season by which time it could all be too late.

I beg to differ surely there isn't a worse head coach in the entire leagues than Embleflop, almost anybody can do better than him. As I say to stay up one if not both of them need to go asap, T&T are like Nero watching Rome burnMax B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 11:32 amWe will just have to take our punishment and go down. Re: One Up front negative tactics
yes agree, one on his own is not working, can if others are not far behind,I said on here when our front two were sold they need two bring in two with leaugue scoring records,I like Wilkinson and Angol but scoring is a art their scoring record long term is not good,ok Wilkinson was well thought of with daggers but but scoring goals record was ok but that's all, looks like early as last summer not a lot of money was available and now also bringing a loans guy as manager has dented funds so that's not helped, the better sides seem to move forward together and at home Ross should move Angol and Wilkinson more along side each other and have back up from either wings its not rocket science to move together whenever possible, maybe Angol and Wilkinson can then get some goals, two homes wins its not working, what does he expect from guys on their own up front.

Re: One Up front negative tactics
I was absolutely flabbergasted when i saw the same line up /formation against Port Vale. I never want to hear the words, 'stay in the game' again. I never want to hear how dangerous the opposition are. We are if our attacking players are actually played and in the right positions ! The 71st minute goal was groundhog day. I was also dumbfounded when Ross said that we only start playing playing when we go one nil down. Maybe and only maybe that's because that's the only time when you push our left winger Brophy to his natural position - left wing ! Maybe its because you push more forwards on. We tend 'to give it a go' as Ross says surprisingly when Ross pushes more attacking players on and in their right positions ... Its not rocket science !
For once. lets give this a go. Let the opposition be scared of us ! Id rather lose 3 2 and go down fighting than defend for a nil draw hoping to nick one only to be be sucker punched in the last 20 minutes. Its happened time and time again. Now for change. 442 . Brophy on the left, JMD on the right with Angol and Wilkinson in the middle. Its will be a cold night tonight so at least lets have some entertainment as opposed to this sterile negative stuff that has been dished up in recent weeks. The 3 points will be a bonus !

5-3-2 using Judd and Brophy as wing backs, cisse and marsh holding, jmd in the number 10 with a free role, Wilkinson and angol up top. It’s never going to happen tho.

If either brophy or Judd bomb forward, Marsh can slot into either rb or lb. It’s a simple game Ross come on!!!Writtlered wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 1:50 pm 5-3-2 using Judd and Brophy as wing backs, cisse and marsh holding, jmd in the number 10 with a free role, Wilkinson and angol up top. Re: One Up front negative tactics
Nothing new about various formations and line ups in football. If you are a decent manager and tactician, you pick your teams lineup and tactics according to what players you have available, what team you are playing and what situation the state of the game is. Sometimes whatever team or formation you put out, you loose because the other side has far superior players. For completely different tactics I remember a game where we were under the cosh all the first half, rarely got out of our own half and 2-0 down at half time. Half time team talk I gave a good team talk, said we might as well lose 8-0 as 2-0 and we must go on all out attack and play a pressing game, pushed our back four right up to the halfway line and the fullbacks to overlap as much as possible and the team go on all out attack, the team talk worked well, played so much better knocked the other side out of their stride and won 4-2, that was a great win.RedO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 12:34 pmSid, you visionary, you.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 8:12 pmDue to shortage of players, I once played the one man up front system myself ( in the team I managed ) back in a quarter final cup game in around 1975, difference we used 5 in midfield, two central holding players ( played myself in that position despite having my dodgy knee ) two wide men who worked the flanks, supporting the fullbacks when under pressure and winging it forward when we attacked also had two central attacking midfielders to come through and support the one striker. Yes very good comment. A favourite of mine e.g ''The Emperor's New Clothes'' Happens in so many things when so many go along with the rest of the sheep, happens a lot in the arts where people applaud rubbish, ''Oh yes I can see what the artist meant''.........bring on Tracey Emin !!Jeanluc wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 12:21 pm I'm not going to comment on Ross as a manager - I have every sympathy for the Hokey Cokey situation (in, out - in, out - shake it all about) he ended up in and I hate to say it but the only way Ross is a great coach is if he has all his teeth taken out and 32 seats put in.

The thing that Ross needs to change is his job, in my opinion he is taking money under false pretences as he clearly hasn't got a clue as a Manager.moonwalk19 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 4:13 pmJustin changed his tactics after losing to Salford and Ebbsfleet last season .Ross take note go back to 442 and get players in the Box . Should never go out with the intention of playing 5-3-2 as you get in a negative state of mind.Writtlered wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 1:50 pm 5-3-2 using Judd and Brophy as wing backs, cisse and marsh holding, jmd in the number 10 with a free role, Wilkinson and angol up top. Go out with the intention of the wing backs as attacking players as a 3-5-2 and you will get better results.

Don’t know how to play attacking football. I always go back to last season against Torquay where under Ross we were appallingLofctillwedie wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 5:30 pm We play such boring football. People say that you can’t play attacking football in this league but look at Plymouth abs Swindon young managers playing attacking style but with Ross it’s park the bus and nick a point or if your lucky three
. His way of playing has not changed and should never have been given the reigns to be manager. How many games has he won being interim/manager. Surely any manager would not have survived at any other club. Nice bloke but has no idea about managing.
