George Alexander
Mungo has just posted this on the nice board.
Will join from Millwall as soon as they have signed their own new striker. They only have 3 on their books, two are playing and one on the bench.
So I suppose it might not happen. Ross did mention it in his most recent interview.
In all honesty I can't really see the point of an 18 year old who has never played a game coming in.
We've got our own Sotiriou and the way Ross plays with one up top I can't see him getting a sniff if he has to displace Wilkinson, Angol, Harrold and Sotiriou.
- what’s people’s thoughts on this? Surely we need two playing together in tandem as we continually leave the one isolated. Is an inexperienced 18 year old going to answer more questions asked of him on his own over an experienced player who is trying but being asked to do the graft without too much support?

Re: George Alexander
That then blows the argument about not playing Ogie out the water if we sign someone else's youth player when we need experienced pros. Would be another typical Ling signing.

His father ain't going be kicking the ball and add any value
It's how good is the player not what father he has

So because his daddy is Orient connected, that makes it a ‘good move’.
Now, where have I heard that before.

No its because he is a Championship youngster.Disoriented wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 10:44 amSo because his daddy is Orient connected, that makes it a ‘good move’.

Not a league 2 youngster .
Unlike Marsh who is a midfielder & some of them get away with being slight .
Forwards.need to have a bit of something good about them & be able
to put the ball in the back of the net.
I doubt Millwall would have had him 12 years if they didnt think be could cut it .

Of course we need two playing up front. What’s the point of bringing in another striker and only playing a lone striker up front. Ross should be blaming his own negative tactics for our lack of goals. Our defence makes one mistake and it’s game over

Re: George Alexander
Imagine being Ruel Sotiriou, working your nads off, going out on loan back to non-league to get some games (and goals), coming back and still not being used, finally getting 90 minutes at left f*cking midfield, scoring goals still, then hearing about this.
It has to be bullshit. If it's genuine, we are more clueless than I could possibly imagine. The only thing that makes me believe it could be true is it's a relative of one of Lingy's mates so would fit.

Re: George Alexander
Cisse is presumably the answer.......
He was way off the pace yesterday, understandably, and arguably to blame for their goal. We need him to get up to speed pretty damn sharpish.
Also worth noting that after going a goal down, we went to a sort of 4.4.2. with Wright and Cisse in the middle and couldn't get the ball back off of them....

Re: George Alexander
Bit harsh to blame him.
Lack of any closing down when the corner is cleared or Coulson not winning the ball back in, could be blamed.
Sargeant also could be partially at fault, don't think his positioning was slightly off and had drifted a step too far to the right. But we should have been behind at that point anyway.
Thing is with Cisse, a lot of his highlights show a player who can burst forward with the ball at pace from deeper positions and pass it around, that is certainly what we need, but that is only half the story, we also need a player who has the work-rate to win the ball back in the first place. On his (admittedly limited) highlights, I am pretty sure that he has the first, not entirely sure of the second. If he hasn't got the second then it is useless playing with Wright, because all he does is jog around.
The midfield thing is a blind spot really. Sentimentality won Clay player of the year, because he suffered stick in the first season, and going off that, he surely couldn't be bad. But just look at it this way; Bonne and Koroma ended up in the Championship this season. Marvin and Happe with linked with bigger clubs as well. Was there any interest in Clay even from a League 2 side? I doubt it. There were better players in the National League that season. Although Clay won the accolade, the real important cog in the midfield overall last year was Jobi.
I have the uneasy feeling Wright is another blind spot. Pretty much since the Fletcher thing he has been useless (his last goals from open play were the 3-3 v Port Vale), but he is undroppable, maybe because as Justin's last signing he is seen as part of the legacy. He could do with a spell out of the side. If we go 4-4-2 I reckon Cisse and Clay have to be the two in midfield because of the lack of work-rate on the wings.

Bit harsh, maybe. Especially as he’d only been on the pitch a few moments. And there were other contributing factors, of course. But if that had been Ebou Adams there, that shot doesn’t go past him.eagwgw wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 3:29 pm Bit harsh to blame him.

I think Ross knows we have to go to 4-4-2 and Cisse is going to allow us to do that. But I guarantee he plays Wright alongside him, which is definitely the wrong call.
Personally, I’d give Hector the chance.

Only thing that’s Ludicrous is that you can’t seem to understand the point that we are being set up so negatively that we haven’t scored a goal, apart from the penalty last week for nearly FOUR games. It’s no wonder that we’re struggling so badly.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 4:47 pmAre. goals from open play worth more than ones that arent ?

To set up at home against a team as poor as Grimsby with just One up front is also Ludicrous

Re: George Alexander
I think this rumour is obviously rubbish . It doesn't make any sense to bring in an 18 striker with no league experience behind him when we already have somebody good and experienced in Sotiriou . Sotiriou is currently not getting any game time so an inexperienced George Alexander would have no chance . It would be a complete waste of money and a signing . We need new players who can come in and make a difference . Stevenage sign Jake Cassidy and he scores on his debut . That's the type of impact we need
