Lingleton Twittwr Video
The club posted this video up on the Twitter page, not sure if pepe have seen it. See link below.
What is shows me is the players don't look interested in what he's saying and seem to be occupying themselves with anything but their attention. Plus his words are truly uninspiring if I'm being honest.

Re: Lingleton Twittwr Video
okay im really trying to do my best with the recruitment farce
I was there on Saturday giving it all as usual - lets get behind them etc and back ross
I had a lecturer once and we called him wallpaper because after 5 seconds We all switched of and although he was talking I never heard anything - really difficult to learn and get motivated - I was hypnotised with boredom
The players are not engaging and its just seems boring - all this hand clapping and high fives as they leave the dressing room !
He looks like the mascot !
But now the decision as been made with Ross for my sanity and love of the os I will do my best to be positive
But look at the eye contact

Don't really think it shows much of anything to be honest. Low-budget promo videos are always going to be slightly embarrassing, and nobody's going to be 100% natural when there's a camera where it doesn't really belong.

Re: Lingleton Twittwr Video
The dynamic must be really weird for the players.
They’ve gone from having the natural leader and motivator Justin Edinburgh to the bloke who was his assistant. Not only that but Ross has flip-flopped in his decision that he didn’t want to be a manager and has already proven with results as interim that he’s not really up to the job.
Add in the fact that he’s trying to inspire experienced professionals despite having zero playing credentials of his own (not saying that this is essential to be a good manager but it must help in giving you gravitas), and his overall demeanour is of a bloke well out of his depth.
I like Ross as a person, and I’m sure he’s a great coach, but I can’t see his tenure as manager ending successfully at all.
I also wonder what kind of appeal he has to sign players. Does he have any decent contacts? What does he offer a potential signing? If I were a player looking for a new club, what does the current set up at Leyton Orient offer me? I really can’t see it.

Can't imagine he has a lot to do with transfer to be fair, would say he probably just gets what he's given by Ling upstairs.Huxley wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:30 am The dynamic must be really weird for the players.

Re: Lingleton Twittwr Video
It does seem rather strange, but I view it as a PR offensive to show people a different side of Ross. Stuff like Travis arranging a 'Meet the Chairman' at short notice (and for free, not paid) I think is the same, to try and get everyone behind Ross.
Whether this has achieved it or not is down to debate.
I know that people on camera are not likely to be the same as when the cameras are off, but I can't imagine him dishing out any bollockings to players, only referees and assistants and opposition benches.
IMO I think players would know that he is not here on merit, but by circumstance. The club's rolling contract is hardly a huge endorsement of him either, and I believe if results over the next 5-6 games are bad and we slip too close to the relegation zone we have no choice but to get in someone else.

Must be so strange for them to have somebody they are comfortable with in charge?Huxley wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:30 am The dynamic must be really weird for the players.

Not fair to judge him on results until he has his own players. Isnt that what you would afford any other new manager?
Ross has worked his whole life in football, you reckon he doesnt have any contacts? I would think first and foremost players are interested more in a clubs status/reputation and what money is on offer anyway.

Re: Lingleton Twittwr Video
All of that (other than the having played bit - having played is only of relevance when just starting out and you haven't managed, if that makes sense?)Huxley wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:30 am The dynamic must be really weird for the players.

The last point is really significant. A potential signing coming in to the club would have been won over by Justin, without a doubt, and desperate to play for him and the club. I can't imagine that being the same now.

Re: Lingleton Twittwr Video
Now I've calmed down a bit, I'm starting to think that the "appointment" of Embleton was actually a rather clever move to bring things to a head. Really, only two things have changed about his contract: (1) if he gets the sack, he leaves the club entirely, and (2) if he gets the sack, he gets year's salary as a pay-off. Which all seems fair enough really.
And I guess all this fluff about him from the club serves two purposes: (1) a good faith effort to maximise his chances of success, and (2) keep the "Orientfrewandfrew" knuckleheads onside
I'm still a bit peeved though in that it finishes off any last faint chance of us making a late surge for the playoffs this season, and it continues to expose the players to more of the blame than they should be getting. I'm still scarred by the Beelzebub era when we lost a lot of decent players because the atmosphere around the club, the manager, the owners, and the fans was so awful.
NB I am *not* saying that now is anything like as bad as it was under FB, but this all feels like an opportunity lost. But then again, maybe we should accept that a lot of the forward momentum was lost on June 8th, and we are going to have to start the forward push from scratch again.

They weren’t Fletchers players either but he still got binned ASAP (ironically the catalyst for doing so seemed to be that he explicitly stated that he wanted new players).

Believe Fletcher was binned, so to speak, because as well as poor results he did not get on with people.

Re: Lingleton Twittwr Video
Somebody - possibly you - said this a few days ago. That giving it to Ross, with no safety net, means if he doesn't make a success of it, he'll have to go. So would Lingy and Webby. Of course, if they make a success of it, they all stay and it's happy days all round.OyinbO wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 12:10 pm Now I've calmed down a bit, I'm starting to think that the "appointment" of Embleton was actually a rather clever move to bring things to a head. I can understand that this was the only way to get us out of this limbo without the owners appearing heartless.

Of course, I suspect that was a massive part of it.
But what's the alternative? Sacking all the trouble makers? Getting rid of Fletch was the only way out of that situation.
