Gorman signs for Newport

Re: Gorman signs for Newport
No, that was his last game.
With Clay and Wright hogging two of the midfield spots under Ross no matter how they play, it is clearly not going to work out for him here.

Re: Gorman signs for Newport
There's room for another, what with us needing 3 in there as we haven't got 2 good ones. That's not the reason.
Never mind putting a run of games together, he's never even managed to find consistency for one whole match. He'll pick out one great through ball, then needlessly get caught in possession. He'll ghost past a player one minute, then lose his rag and get booked for a reckless tackle.
He simply hasn't delivered.
The fact that his last game was against Adams, who absolutely bossed him and the rest of our midfield, is a really apt way to bring his time with us to an end.
Re: Gorman signs for Newport
True. I did note he started all the games where we had the good run (when Ross announced he was stepping down).
I agree he ain't consistent at all. But neither has anyone else. He was probably the easiest to get rid of. I do believe potentially there could be a League player in there, which is more than can be said for Clay.

Agreed.RedO wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 9:12 amOf course it’s not his fault. He always tried. Possibly too hard, with some of those horrific tackles.Thor wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 7:06 am Ling signed him and tried to sell it to the fans as this is the player that’s better than Adams. I don’t need to say anything else really do I?
This is not a dig at Gorman as I liked him as a player and felt sorry he was never given an opportunity to lock down a place this season even when he played well.
If we’d have signed Adams as the certainty and Dale as the ‘punt’, as SF has called him, then it would have been a worthwhile gamble, I totally agree. But it was only going to be one or the other, so as a replacement for Adams he has to be classed as a total failure.

Obviously Newport have seen something in him. Not consistent but should still have been ahead of Clay.eagwgw wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 10:58 am True. I did note he started all the games where we had the good run (when Ross announced he was stepping down).

He was probably cheap as chips, available and will fill a squad gap in the important second half of the season when suspensions and injuries bite.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 11:45 amObviously Newport have seen something in him. Re: Gorman signs for Newport
Didn’t look good enough for the National League. No idea why anyone thinks he’s good enough for League Two. Overhits his passes, often leaves his feet when tackling, positionally dreadful. He’ll probably toe punt a goal for Newport and everyone will lose their s**t. One of many that needs shipping out.

I wonder what the newport forums make of this?
