Yes, and what a ridiculous decision! I've always argued that hand ball must be intentional.
And by the way, I have no feelings for W Ham, but I felt for their fans.

Re: Not so happy Hammers

Great point, they have to really change some of the rules for next season regarding VAR otherwise it will destroy football. They should always treat balls hitting arms or hands as intentional or unintentional and there needs to be a clear gap between defenders and attackers not this heel, foot, arm and shoulder etc being offside, ridiculous. They can't change mid season as it would be unfair to the teams that have been affected to date.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 10:35 pm Yes, and what a ridiculous decision! Re: Not so happy Hammers
Yes, I agree Ron, I don’t like them either, but I just hope that VAR never features in Orient’s games.
On the subject of offside, I thought they had said that if the attacker and defender are level then the attacker is onside.
Or there has to be ‘daylight’ between them for the attacker to be adjudged offside.
All this business of a players toenail or bootlace being in front of his opponent so he’s offside is crazy IMHO.
The authorities really need to look at this in the summer.

You are clearly a good guy. Pull up them socks and get some shinpads on. You can only improve.

I disagree, while I have every sympathy with players penalised for hand ball when the ball is smashed against them from close range while defending , this was different he clearly controlled the ball with his hand.

Yes, I've always thought this about the player (second paragraph). Silly to stroll around the pitch like that.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 11:13 pm McBurnie. I thought you were keech.

Re: Not so happy Hammers
VAR is not solely to blame in this case - the revised law regarding handball - which means any contact on the hand or arm in the build up to a goal is deemed to be intentional - is the main issue. Another ridiculous attempt to over regulate the game and stifle common sense.

Re: Not so happy Hammers
I heard on the news this morning where Rice said when the var made the decision the fans were screaming like they’d scored a goal, what’s that all about?

Re: Not so happy Hammers
Absolutely 100% this, the rules and VAR go hand in hand and one influences the other in terms of the effect on the game. The suits in charge need to realise scoring goals is the whole essence of football and all these nitpicking changes are stifling the very thing that fans want to see in games - goals.RoryRocks wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 10:45 pmno

Massive changes needed for next season as it's been an absolute farce in the Premier League thus far.

Simples. The fans who benefit from the VAR decision cheer like they have scored a goal.
Sheffield United celebrated last night like they had scored a last minute winner in a cup final.

Re: Not so happy Hammers
It would be some player who could deliberately control a ball headed at them from a matter of inches.
