If it's correct that we are going to appoint a manager from within then i would definetly give it to Jobi. Apparently he has gained the coaching badges needed and that along with his experience of playing the game at a high level plus hopefully the respect he commands amongst the current squad is all a positive. Also he has a profile in the game which would help in the signing of new players. Ross we are told does not want to be the manager but with Jobi in charge all other coaching positions remain in place. This makes it easy for Martin Ling and the club to resolve. Still no guarantees that Jobi will be a success but Ross is not exactly Jurgen Klopp (not a dig, calm down!)

I think it's definitely odds on it will be an internal appointment . We're not going to get the experienced manager we're crying out for so it'll be either Ross or Jobi.

- comes across as a bit more level-headed and intelligent than Embleton
- commands respect from his achievements as a player
- would get a lot of fans on side, I reckon even some of those not convinced by RE
- solves 6 months of non-value playing contract and avoids him going through more ops
- Embleton can go back to being an assistant where he feels more comfortable

Maybe, just maybe?
Blimey, do you often read threads from 3 weeks ago?

Didn't see it on that one, was also posted in a reply on one of the threads that's been active this week.

Hence the caveat if they're dead set on keeping it in house I'd rather the inexperienced guy who's a bit more inspirational and level-headed to the inexperienced guy who's shown himself to be lacking the personality traits required for the managerial role.

Yep, I'd also rather give it to McAnuff than Embleton too and hopefully having his coaching badges now means we can make this happen.

Prestige please read the comments properly. If the club are going for in-house then i would prefer Jobi over RE. If they spread the net externally, no problem with experienced manager appointment.

I would prefer Jobi to be the new head coach, over Ross, even though he has no experience.
He's played football at five levels over the years, and is a bright clever articulate man.
Ross, lovely guy that he is, hasn't got a clue IMO, so If we're going in house, then Jobi for me

Another 6-8 weeks out before he’s likely to return as said by Ross the boss.

I can’t imagine Mcnuff is on a low wage, and he will have been sidelined for almost an entire season, a complete waste of money.

Why are you all so convinced that Jobi would make a better head coach than Ross? Not like Ling works with them both every day and you see them for a couple of hours a week :clown

Hopefully McAnuff can get himself fit to play again this season as he'd still be our best midfielder - incredibly.

Sample size on Embleton is small, but there are things that he does that I'm not keen on (particularly number of forwards up front, or players out of position) and therefore I'd have preferred to take a punt on McAnuff to see if he did things differently.

Extending MCAnuffs contract was another major error in a long line of major errors and blunders.

Arguably the worst of the lot given his level of involvement this season ?☹️

I'd argue he deserves it due to what he did last year, the level he performed at. He is also inspirational to boot. I'd have done the same and given him a contract.

I understand your logic but don’t agree with it. Too much risk involved imho given his age and nature of the injury.

An injury he sustained putting his body on the line for the team and club.

The question that really needs asking and to my mind it's never been asked is. What is our physio department doing that's allowed this injury to spiral so far out of control? The original prognosis must have been poor as rest was advised, he comes back and needs an operation straight away, why wasn't he put straight in for the op as soon as the season finished?

It seems poor from the medical departments perspective.

His groin injury was manged for the last few games of the season and it was first thought that it would clear up with rest and treatment in the close season. This was not the case and he had to have an operation, that did not work so he has now had a second operation. Don't blame McAnuff he was only listening to the physio and medical team and doing what they said. There was no sentiment involved in giving him a new contract, he was an outstanding player for us last season. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, nobody could predict what has happened.

Don’t think so, it’s the one that flared up towards the end of the season.

Seems like he’s had a pretty injury free career.
