Positivity

Post by Adz »

This MB is oft maligned for it's lack of positivity, so what would it take for you to feel positive about the club again?

Wholesale changes like a new manager, dof and players? Getting rid of some of the deadwood? Signing just one good player?

Signing another two or three very good players would be an excellent start

From where we were at the end of the FB era to where we are now, I can only be positive and grateful to the owners for all they’ve done, and that remains the bigger picture.

But as of right now, things don’t feel too positive, for it doesn’t feel like we’ve got a plan with conviction, at least not one that a significant number of us fans share the belief in. It’s been more a case of try to get Ross to do the manager’s job and hope it’ll work out, despite the fact he said only a few months ago it wasn’t for him, and his management record stats not being impressive. Add to the that the debacle over Fletcher too, and it’s difficult to be too confident that the decision making and direction is good, and hence difficult to be positive right now.

Had we appointed Holloway – an experienced manager with a level of success - instead of Grimsby, that would have felt positive. And if results prove us doubters wrong, then I’ll be delighted, and my feeling would change.

Pretty much in agreement with the above post. Little doubt in my mind that T&T genuinely want the club to progress and do well but I’m just not convinced they are going the right way about it. Here’s hoping!👍

Just a win with a 95th minute scrambled winner would do me to start but a few more wins would increase happiness 😃

Win, lose or draw, a good performance that makes me feel like I haven't wasted more time and money would be start. 👍

Tomorrow's game is becoming more important than it probably should be in the big picture, and it's a shame we're playing Grimsby with a new manager, new players and in front of large number of travelling fans as opposed to another mid to lower L2 team.

The result is less important than the performance in some ways. If Ross can't set the team up right and make the players turn in an improved performance tomorrow then the fans disenchantment will be palpable. On the other hand, if we do play well, it will help us all get behind him.

Very easy..... Getting in a proper proven dynamic midfielder would appease everyone.

On the pitch it could be the missing cog and improve performances of all the players around him.

Getting rid ofAlibi, signing the quality midfielder that has been missing for ages and one proven goal scorer at this level as a minimum.

I agree we need to sign some good players during January. The trouble is signing good players in January is not very easy. Those that are currently playing well are not really going to be available.

Holloway has bought £100000 of shares in Grimsby and now sits on the Board. If he fails, how will they get rid of him?

On that basis, I wouldn't have wanted him at Orient.

£100,000 of shares isn't gonna get him very far.... issued share capital of Grimsby is over £2m.

If they wanted to sack him, he doesn't have the power to overturn it. Being a shareholder does not guarantee you a right to be employed by the company. Even if he was sacked he could still attend meetings, but he would have little influence unless he bought more shares.

I doubt that £100,000 is material to him, so his investment is token really and given he was desperate to get back into football might have swung his appointment.

things to make me feel more positve
1..get rid of the DOF position
2 bring in 3 or 4 quality players, inc. 2 central midfielders
3 getting that useless lump Alabi from the club
4 signs the manager knows what he's doing...line up subs etc
Doubt much of that will happen though.

£100k is £100k whether you got only £100k or £100m. It's probably more the case that he decided to make an investment because he believed in himself and thought he could turn it into something more. Also probably has options on the shares of others that means should he be successful then he'd be owning a greater share of the club.

1. Why?
2. We've already brought in one quality player and will most likely sign a CM now we've offloaded one. The window is still open for another 3 weeks.
3. How would you do this when he's currently on double what anyone else will offer him?
4. What don't you agree with in his team selection?

That didn’t seem to be a problem for Grimsby. They have just brought in five new players .

After poor JE passing away its not been easy, getting on Ross's back will not help,I want him to do well but there are issues with the team can he sort it out not sure, will any players come in ? we have got four main players from last year either gone or playing now,we have gone up a league and clearly not finding it easy to win games, the owners must keep a eye on where we are in the league and act if this run does not get better,Ross needs to turn it around quick,is he up to the job maybe ,if not worring times ahead.
