Players can improve. Marsh is young and will get better.
Don’t remember him getting much of a look in, to be honest. Did he start any games for us?

Of course Marsh will improve. I can see him going on to have a career in the bottom two divisions. But as things stand now, he isn’t what we need.

If we’re going to give a young kid a shot, to help him reach his potential, I’d much rather it was one of our own. Such as Hector.

I'm ok with us keeping Marsh if we also bring in a quality mobile defensive midfielder to replace Clay.

Gorman can do one as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully someone offers him an 18 month or longer deal in the next few weeks.

Probably our best midfielder, but that's not saying much. We need players that are excellent for this league now, not in a few years. We shouldn't just be developing other clubs players.

Marsh offers very little. Underwellmed but not too surprised.

But Marsh is supposed to be this elusive quality mobile defensive midfielder? That’s his role. Not Clays.

True, but every so often they get cast off and we get them back and they become good players for us.

How many times has that happened?

Regardless. I don’t think that’s a sensible reason for keeping a sub standard player on for the rest of the season.

Soccerbase suggests just 6 games, not 8? https://www.soccerbase.com/players/play ... son_id=150

Turns out he didn’t start a home game which is why I have zero recollection of him.

Agreed. Think he's been decent enough. Would do well in a team that was better organised imo.
Also deputised more than ably at RB

He's done OK.

Not really gonna improve us much unless we get someone else in.

One of Clay or Gorman has to go this window. Both should be able to command a first-team spot in National League so there should be takers, but we might have to pay to make it happen. Personally I think the board thinking 'they are National League winners, we shouldn't be giving them away for free'.

I'm with you on this. He's supposed to be but is not though sadly. So we need to improve on what we've got and improve the performance as a whole by getting one.

If we're not going to get one in because we renewed Marsh and don't want to move Clay (or Gorman) then that's poor. Yes, Marsh will develop somewhat but we need a player for now and not next season.

I've always liked Gorman and still think he could establish himself in the first team given the opportunity 🤔 , yes I know people would say he's had loads of chances but a gut feeling tells me he's gonna come good one day soon .

Gorman has never had a good run in the team not afraid to tackle or take a shot on and passes it forward unlike Clay and Wright might be good alongside Marsh

I too think there is a good player in there somewhere, but he has never been trusted to have a run in the side.

While Clay and Wright are here, he is just not going to get picked ahead of them if Ross remains in charge.

His old boss is at Yeovil so he might be able to sign for them.

No way that I can see that Clay will simply be 'let-go'. Close to (with Wright) being first name down on the team sheet.

Gorman maybe, if anyone comes in for him..

I cannot why people getting up tight about keeping marsh, there are other issues with the team, two forwards up front how many goals have they scored between them ? goals in the back of our net through cosses, corners leaving players unmarked to help themselves to goals, when we attack we never get that room up front.

Remember when Davis was manager how many goals did we concede from crosses? Who were the coaches?

Justin sorted that out more or less straight away.

Now it’s happening again, Jobi excepted who are the coaches?

I’m getting ‘uptight’ because I see our midfield 3 as the main issue with this team.

The only reason we have 3 in there is because we haven’t got 2 good enough to play there, so have to make up for it with the extra man. Despite that, they still fail to properly shield the back line, hence the never ending crosses coming into the box, some of which teams will score from. They also fail to create any opportunities for our strikers.

The problems you mention all come from our poo poo midfield. I would ditch any of them and bring in better, but as clay and Wright are both contracted, they ain’t going anywhere. The one we could have swapped out is Marsh and we’ve failed to take that opportunity.

It’s a really poor decision.

Redo, you are spot on. I just don’t understand why the management can’t see what we see every bloody game, our midfield being overrun, outfought. We are too lightweight and lack both energy and creativity.
