With all these people going back to coaches etc, we'd better get bigger dugouts!

Doubt it, he’s got 12 months on his contract to run. Ffs.

Brill already is the goalkeeping coach according to Wiki

Edit: Reece Ottley is actually our goalkeeping coach, so definitely no room for Brill unless he leaves.

Yep, just seen that it's Reece Ottley. So unless he moves on/is moved on then there's no room for Brill.

Brill's here for another year as he signed a contract extension this summer.

Not sure it'll be that easy to budge him off that, unless another club comes in for him. Would have thought Luton might be a good place for him, Kevin Dearden is keeper coach there. A swap could be on the cards, Dearden might fit nicely into the old boys club here.

No, it definitely wont be easy to move his contract. It's an albatross. I think our best bet is if Ottley were to leave and he went back to coaching then at least we'd save the little we spend on Ottley.

A lot of our contract extensions are now proving to be a real weight around our neck.

Brill and Coulson's were from the moment they were signed, especially as there was no need to extend them.

They're not really as the owners have budgeted for that scenario, the club is quite comfortable with offering them so they're not classed as burdens.

They may have budgeted for them, but that amount of salary is now committed to deadwood (Brill and Coulson) and mediocre players (Widdowson, Clay, Ling) for the next 18 months when it could have been utilised to pay the wages of better quality players who may have also had some resale value.

It's definitely going to impact on the extent to which we can improve over the next 18 months because of the salary committment and squad numbers.

I personally think our squad is good enough if we can add another two or three players of the quality of Vigouroux . Don't forget players like Alabi and Gorman will probably be leaving so that would free up some the playing budget .

If they are getting the band back together it'll be someone like Yaser Kasim or Anton Rodgers next, both ex-Swindon. To be fair they might improve the midfield.

The number of people that are gonna sign because of Embers being here must be fairly small.

A good quality mobile defensive midfielder would make a huge difference. Both from the fact we need this sort of player and that they'd be replacing Clay who is well below average at this level.

No guarantee that Alabi or Gorman leave in January but the budget probably takes into account us being able to improve in January as we have money coming off the books in 6 months time.

Alabi should have been moved on, Gorman will probably look to leave as he isn't getting an opportunity in that midfield that's playing nowhere near the level that's required but this is also down to mismanagement and poor Judgement by Embleton who has undropables in the team and doesn't appear to know how to set up a team and rarely is able to make the changes required in the middle of a game or just purely plays players out of position and rarely sets a team up to go out and win.

I'm glad that a new keeper has arrived. That's progress.

BTW, some great goals in the FA cup over the weekend. It's a pity we have done so poorly over the past two seasons and not been part of it.

Of course they are. Because we have Ling, we can’t sign another right back. Because we have Clay, we can’t sign another CM. And so it goes on. I can’t see anyone achieving anything next season either given the low quality of player we’ve got signed up through to June 2021.

Ah but your missing the point.

The interim head coach and the director of football believe that these players deserve to form part of the squad which will be or is good enough to take this club forwards. Therefore they are not burdens in any way shape or form.

As fans we may disagree with the actions they have taken as you outline above, but the dof does not agree with the fans views.

I don’t understand what point you’re making.

These contact extensions to June 2021 are clearly burdens and will limit our ability to assemble a successful squad next season.
