Is it too much to ask that a player is fit to play from the start?

Who are these injured players we constantly bring in? Think Gorman was the last example 18 months ago and that didn't affect us becoming National League champions.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:47 pm We constantly bring in injured players. Is he the tough tackling, no nonsense, commanding midfielder we’re crying out for?

What lesson of his did he need to learn? This smacks of blindly putting the boot in without considering the legitimacy of the previous claim.gshaw wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 11:15 pmIf Ling hasn't learnt his lesson by now on that front he never willComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:47 pm We constantly bring in injured players. One player and that's it? Far from enough said - think you need to give more examples of us constantly brining in injured players.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 9:59 amGorman, enough said? Also have you considered that the reason Gorman isn't very good is because, you know, he isn't very good? Especially when he was signed when we were an NL team. And not that he missed a full preseason 18 months ago now so that excuse has worn off.

Re: League 2 January Transfer Window
@SM both, seems unwilling to put a fully committed challenge in (not counting the deliberate late fouls) and as a result is as ineffective as Clay / Marsh / Wright in dominating the CM.
If Ling is considering another injured player the Gorman situation alone is enough to prove the point. I found an old conversation on FB Messenger from 2017 saying how we were crying out for a Dawson / Vincelot type CM. Now 2020 and Ling still hasn't managed to find one, so much for 10 scouted players for every position eh.

Crying out for it so much that we won the NL without one? Sure, it would have improved us then and now, but you can't say we were crying out for it when we were champions. Now it is very much needed though.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 10:15 am @SM both, seems unwilling to put a fully committed challenge in (not counting the deliberate late fouls) and as a result is as ineffective as Clay / Marsh / Wright in dominating the CM.

The Gorman situation doesn't prove a point other than that we should sign better quality players now we are back in the league. Comparing a player who was out with a fractured ankle and not ready to play for a while with one out with a groin injury and almost ready to return is also flawed. Scott isn't the player we need, but not because he had a groin operation not long ago.
